    [Ele] Good gear, bad DPS

    Hello folks,

as you can guess from the title I'm doing to little damage for my gear. That's especially true for cases like Council (hc) and Megaera (hc). The problem is that I'm not really sure why, I'm starting to believe that I'm doing something fundamentally wrong.
I'd be thankful if someone could look the logs below and see what I'm doing wrong. I posted some short comment for each log, at what I was doing.

    Armory: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/characte...chawi/advanced
Mastery gems and enchants: a relic from a full mastery build. Now I'm on haste, because of PE, which I use for some fights. Trinkets: meh, but it's the best I have.

    Jin'rokh (hc): http://worldoflogs.com/reports/2psu2...e/?s=615&e=856
Pretty straight forward. I'm playing safe, staying in the alcoves while lightning storm, so nearly no damage there

    Horridon (hc): http://worldoflogs.com/reports/2psu2...?s=2126&e=2793
Used Ascendance three times, with a fight length of 11 mins it could have been four times. Right now I'm using it right at the start, then at gate 3 and the last phase.

    Council (nhc): http://worldoflogs.com/reports/2psu2...=12089&e=12393
It's a mess. I don't really know. Just more Chain Lightning?

    Tortos (hc): http://worldoflogs.com/reports/2psu2...=12790&e=13350
I'm killing turtles and kicking them, so nearly no time to bomb the bats. Using first Ascendance on first turtles, second Ascendance on some later turtle pack and the last Ascendance on Tortos.

    Megaera (hc): http://worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-w0ipx2y77zgjre37/
Not really doing noteworty damage on wyrms. They are too far apart for too long to hit them with CL, and when they are close together they're nearly dead.

    Iron Qon (hc): http://worldoflogs.com/reports/qt75o...?s=7407&e=8059
Only few CLs. More AOE damage in exchange for single adds going down faster? Pretty much casted Healing Rain on cooldown in the last phase.

Ok, checked your logs from Jin'rokh to Tortos and really didn't see anything "odd". I don't have enough raiding experience from this tier to say anything fight specific but overall your logs seemed fine. Flame shock had always 90-94%+ uptime, except on Horridon, but one thing slightly caught my eye from your Jin'rokh log. It's a 4:01 length fight but you did damage from Fulmination "only" 8 times? Not sure how the worldoflogs differentiates the damage from Earth Shock/Fulmination, but that seemed kinda low number. So that might be a part of your problem? Because I believe that with your amount of mastery you should be almost swimming in Lightning Shield stacks.

But please more experienced worldoflogs users and more hardcore raiders, give Your insight on this. I would like to see if my interpretation of these logs matches yours.

I saw on your Megaera logs you didnt do any damage to the Venom head, i would advice you to flame shock it for more Lava Surge proccs. I still feel 100k - 105k is a bit low, but im not that good at analyzing WoL, so im not that sure on what else you are doing wrong. Still as for Iron Qon i usaly Pop Ascendance and Lava Beam when P2 starts.

    Thanks for the replies.

@Jesmam: Fulmination is a spell that's cast additionally to the Earth Shock, so it simply shows in the log as a normal spell. According to the log I got 392700 mana through Rolling Thunder, which when divided by 6000 would be 65.45 proccs (dunno how this odd number can happen), so yeah, could have been more Fulminations.

@ACRL: isn't the rule of thumb still that multi-dotting is a damage loss? I'll try it nevertheless, thanks for the suggestion.

Generally multi dotting is a damage loss, but I think it was mathed out to be dps neutral with the 4pc now. Endus knows the right answer for sure though.

As I recall it was DPS loss with the last tier set 4 bonus and is neutral/minor dps up without any set bonus. With the new set 4 bonus it should be a DPS up. Some math pro could provide some math on this subject.

according to a post I wrote a while back, with "annecdotal simC evidence" : http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/...3#post20715343

"multidoting is a dps gain, but a dps loss on main target", ie on megaera you should not multidot, on council when there is only two target alive and not packed you should.

On that thread you used T14 set 2 and T15 set 2. Could you run sims with T15 set 4?

with simc 520-7, using the default "Shaman_Elemental_T15H.simc" profile for "mono" (I didn't check exactly what it is, but it has legendary metagem and 4p15, click on links and check "profile" for more info) , and using the same methodology as in the topic I posted earlier, and got those result (450sec, 10k iterations) :

    solo : 190 238 dps
    multi : 196 644 dps
damage on main target when multidoting : 185 840 dps
