You forgot the mosquitoes in your picture.

Where do you even go to get a view like that.

So on a level of 1-10 how photoshopped is that picture.

Edit: I find the detail of the space way to high for any non-telescopic picture.

Only takes me a couple minutes of walking in order to get that sort of view, even though you won't be able to see that with your own eyes as it is dependent on your camera settings. Sometimes it is worth it living in tiny Norwegian communities, even though I live in a 'city' with about 7.000 inhabitants.

Yeah, you can't really get that view outside of the city either. I grew up in a small town of 16,000, and now live in a large city, and there is a difference but you definitely can't see anything like that just by looking into the sky.

I agree, but then you don't get gorgeous evening walks like this:

But I do agree, I will find a place out in the middle of no-where eventually so that I can see the stars. Everyplace has it's own beauty when l looking through the proper lens though.

City = Convenience, Variety, Entertainment, Oportunities
Middle of no where = Peace, Quiet, Privacy, Nature

    Both are awesome.

I grew up in a tropical country and now I'm living in Spain and while I've seen skies with lots of stars, i've never seen something like that picture in my life.
    Where is that?

It may be because it's hard to get a picture like that (but who knows with how camera tech is these days), but to actual get a view like that there are many, many places to do so

I'm pretty sure that picture is a painting. It's definitely not real.

Anyways, it depends on the person, but living in a small city is very boring to me. There's not a whole lot to do really.

My home town still has dial-up internet.

I'll take my inability to see the stars at night over dial-up any day.

Currently playing Borderlands 1 remaster. Amped for Borderlands 3.

    Nowhere specific.

It is photoshopped like hell because the lighting around the vehicle would actually make it impossible to take such a picture of the night sky.

Altought it is possible to take awsome pictures of the Milky Way it can only be done under a specific set of conditions. Such as no moon, no light polution, clear sky no clouds, no flash and the correct season and time.

Even under those conditions the Milky Way will only appear as a lighter shade of blue mist across a darker shade of deep blue sky. The multiple color picture you see, can only be taken either trough a telescope equiped with a multi spectrum lens (the color variations are different types of radiation and light reflected on interstellar dust) or from space by special telescopes.

Altought undoubtedly the night sky without light pollution is an amazing sight. But the title is misleading and stupid, just as the picture used to make a point.

This is how the Milky Way would look like from Earth under optimum conditions.

Ah, but in the countryside, you don't get views like this:

    Or this:

'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
    All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

Urban views can be quite spectacular as well. I'd share my view if it wasn't raining like hell right now.

    Is that Vancouver?

Edit: After reading your Location: it certainly is. Mine are obviously not Houston, but wouldn't it be awesome if they were?

While I do like seeing stars, I also like being able to walk to most things I need to do. I can drive a couple hours out of the city and see good stars when I want to (and I do this occasionally for meteor showers and such).

Let's all ride the Gish gallop.

Whatchu talkin bout? We got rusty cars in the city...

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning.
