Fan patches never fixed the optimization issues with GTA4 either, what fixed it was PCs getting 2-3x stronger on average then they where during it's release. On it's release you couldn't even run GTA4 as well as a 360 could. A 360 with 512 mb of ram, 1.3 ghz triple core. Rockstar ports are no thanks to me, until they are 5 bucks years down the road. Total crap on release.

In reality you aren't doing anything more that's of actual purpose.
Oh and speaking of rockstar ports who could ever forget the bully port, one of the few games steam actually gave refunds for because the port was that bad, and it took them a year to even make the game playable.
If you like wasting money on crap products go right ahead, but I don't ever recommend buying a rockstar ported game on the PC, which are basically just money grabs and a big middle finger to the entire PC gaming community.

I am glad that it sounds like they may start making new PC games or port more console ones faster or something. However, honestly, my next PC upgrade may very well be my last one. I suspect that within the next generation or two, of tablets, PC's and consoles will be relegated to a minor niche market.

Ports from the next generation should be so much better since they're going to be built on the same architecture.
As for what you can do with PC mods, take a look at enhanced Skyrim or Morrowind mods sometime. The mods make it look so much better, can't do that on a console.
