    New Build...finally!

Ok so i have finally managed to shake all the washing machine breaking down, kids need new stuff dilemmas and rattled up some cash for sure.

First PC build for me tho I am a certified electrical engineer and in that respect I am double checking here on this build.

Budget - 10000 Danish Kroner [DKK]
    Resolution - 1920 x 1080
Games / Settings Desired - WOW 99% of time and my focus, usual other suspects but as long as its capable of running modern games at good quality im fine
Any other intensive software or special things you do (Frequent video encoding, 3D modeling, etc) - streaming but this is a luxury and not important
    Country - Denmark
Parts that can be reused - want a new build however i have a new boxed PSU given to me by a electronic company i worked with, a CM silent proM 1000W 80 plus bronze - http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=497261#extra .... overkill i think for what i need but its free!!!!
Do you need an OS? - no
Do you need peripherals (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc)? - no

additional - I want to overclock, tho i never have before, doesn't look too complex.

so i have mix and match some examples looking through these forums. what do you guys think?

    MoBo: ASUS Z77 - http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=746635
    CPU: I7 3770K - http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=660225
    RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 8GB CL9 - http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=650278
GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 670 2GB PhysX CUDA - http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=751639
    SSD: Samsung SSD 840 Series 120GB 2.5" OEM - http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=765972
    HDD: WD Caviar Black 1TB - http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=591141
    PSU: n/a see above -
    Heatsink: Noctua NH-U12P - http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=496004
Case: CM Storm Scout II - http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=773781

this all comes to 9652 DKK which is good for me as i need to upgrade my GF case as she has a cheap one and the buttons/usbs etc do not function properly.

saying that the thing i know least about is the case, is this one good enough? i don't care too much on looks but i would like it to have space.

I am still toying between the i5 and the i7 in price/performance terms

also the heatsink is just what I've seen from recommendation i considered the 212 also, any thoughts.

lastly any bits and pieces i should buy for the final build that will help or are needed but not included.

cheers I appreciate any advice and tips

I have been using the scout 2 case for a while now and really cant fault it, at all. if you can I would push for the i7, I found the difference to be quite alot when i recently upgraded

    Everything else seems good enjoy
    Whoops, sig too big

Step up to the noctua D14 if you really want to try and push your CPU. The 3570K will be more than enough for gaming. If you really plan on diving into streaming and more then go with the 3770K. I would be the one to tell you to look away from CM cases (imo they're not what they use to be, other brands have stepped up and taken over the market) and look at corsair, silverstone, lian li, fractal design, bitfenix or NZXT. The case situation is highly personal choice, but there are good ones and bad ones out there.

An i7 won't make any difference at all for you when playing games, so I would suggest staying with the 3570K. I would however suggest swapping out the SSD for an intel 330 120GB. 100 more DKK for triple the write speed.
Personal preference would also be swapping out the case for the Fractal Design Arc Midi R2. Never been a big fan of CM cases and the Arc Midi R2 is a great case.

To be honest, looking at the price you are willing to pay for a MB, this one here is a much better option and will fit better in a midi tower http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=746655 Ignore comments on m-ATX are worse than ATX, it doesn't apply in this case. That card is the best OC card you can get in that pricebracket. It's also an Asus ROG product and the build quality is amazing. It will not disappoint. I built around that card for my GF and I can't really separate it from my MB performance wise, It doesn't support tri-SLI or CF so if you are planning on going with 3 graphic cards in the future this is not for you. But you wouldn't build on a Z77 platform if you were so yeah.

As for cooling, wouldn't you rather be rid of dust and get something that looks very nice for almost the same money? Like http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=769177 That one will either be extremely quiet or have extreme performance compared to most air coolers. It won't block the whole window on the side either making it look sleek and sexy instead of beige and brown?

Also, this could help you color coordinate abit better http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=618012 like two of them. LP RAM is not important if you have a watercooler, color coordination is.

If you're planning to play Crysis3, TESO and quite a few upcoming AAA titles, they will have multicore support and the i7 will outperform an i5 by quite alot. If WoW is your main focus and will continue to be so for the next 2-3 years then you should shave some off the cost by going 3570K.

Case is tacky, but thats personal taste of course. The cutout in the backplate looks big enough to install coolers with no extra effort required but the front facing HDD cages might make it harder to get nice cable management going there. I wouldn't get that one personally. I would also put alot more money in the case unless I was looking for a Fractal Design case, which I find the best in that price bracket having the build quality of cases that costs almost twice as much.

I'd suggest you get the Caviar Blue, and funnel some of the money into getting the 250GB Samsung 840 SSD.

Lemmi's suggestions are also positive, even though I'm not keen on the mobo he's chosen.

Same price, better board basically. Both are good though.

would you expand a little on the advantages for me

some nice suggestions guys thank you, will spend my time looking through these and working out whats best for me.

and yeah the fractal case looks better!!

Better overclocking, many BIOS profiles, awesome on-board sound card (best I've seen so far, that goes for the whole Maximus series), better build quality, ROG connect, and all the features of the p8Z77 boards as well. This board really kicks ass tbh

ok updated list brings me to 9841DKK and its looking good for me, relief to choose a different case the Fractal looks more like my thing, i kept the ssd as i dont mind the write speed so much, and i swapped to the WD blue to drop cost a little, how does this fair?

anything I am missing? just paste i guess!

Drop down the 3770K to a 3570K and switch the SSD for either a 240 GB Intel 335 or a Crucial m4 256GB. I would also pick the Notcua NH-D14 instead of the H100i, runs quieter and very close to same temperature(and you also save 200 DKK).

Edit: also get 8GB RAM, preferrably 2 sticks of 4GB, something like this.

You're within budget, got an awesome rig, I'd hit the order button. Dropping down just to drop down isn't really a big point, it will save you 800ish DKK and you will have worse performance overall. Having the i7 for that price is something I would prefer as long as I could get the gpu I wanted. The NH-D14 is a good cooler, very good, but it's large, ugly and out of stock. I would not save 200 there tbh. The 840 is good enough, upping a size means you have to skimp somewhere. I'd just drop that or increase my budget to fit in a 240/256 SSD.

yeah i am going to keep the i7

and i went for the cooler instock. the ssd i think that 120gb is fine for me right now and im not worried on write speed so much, so looks like im set

    thanks for the help guys

Glad to help, enjoy your new rig

Make sure to post some pictures of it when you're done, it will be very color coordinated

Just remember to turn the LED on the H100i to red before you start shooting

I still see no reason for you to get the 3770K, no performance increase at all over the 3570K for gaming. But if you want to waste your money on that instead of a better SSD, go ahead.

    He wanted to stream WoW.
    8700K (5GHz) - Z370 M5 - Mugen 5 - 16GB Tridentz 3200MHz - GTX 1070Ti Strix - NZXT S340E - Dell 24' 1440p (165Hz)

Which was a luxury and not important, and he'll be able to do that with a 3570K aswell without any problems.

He's within budget with a 3770K, I don't see why he would downgrade the CPU. A bigger SSD is more luxury and less important than a CPU any day of the week. He'll be fine with either CPU of course, but the 3770K is beefier than the 3570K, there is no denying that. On a side note, if he plans to play and stream TESO, his 3770K will be a whole tier above the 3570K (which is still fine for that too, just not as good) and I would never downgrade performance over more SSD storage. the 120GB Samsung 840 is a great little SSD, got it in my steam box.
