As a huge Worgen fan, I feel that they had LOADS of potential. However, Worgen NPC's practically don't exist outside of the Worgen starting experience, and all they got as a city district was a tree in Darnassus. Until 5.2, the tree didn't even have an INNKEEPER.

Gilneas has such promise to be an awesome front between the Worgen and the forsaken, and it's been completely ignored. If Gilneas is ever revisited, I would simply say it's about damn time!

Currently playing World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2, and the Mass Effect trilogy. Not at the same time, of course. I'm not an octopus.

    1. Everything before WoW does not matter in fact the Gilneans weren't even part of the Alliance back then and only joined after losing their homeland. So the Alliance never really had to begin with. Also when changing to Worgen didn't they forfeit their right to the land anyway? Worgen afterall aren't humans and thus the original Gilneans went extinct.

    2. Do you have any Alliance point of view quests or lore developement to back this up? Was it mentioned on the Alliance side at any point? No? Right! See?

Should it go back to Gilneas? eventually, but not in wows lifetime. It could be a nice daily hub for both factions killing each other, but it cannot be an Alliance zone/capital city. The reasoning is quite simple, that is "horde territory" questing, literally next to lvl 10s. Its not stv where 30s (or is it 40s now?)are, but 10s. Gameplay reasons is why it is not Alliance . That is really all.

    Haha, your logic is hilarious.

If the Gilneans lost the right to their land when they became Worgen, then so did the Forsaken.

That argument is complete asinine if you ask me.

So unless that made gilneas into a contested zone for questing later, its not really balanced in terms of who gets what.

Wheres genn? He's usually here by now.
The goblins do have Bilgewater harbor though.

Not all Gilneans turned to worgen. Only about half of them seem to have. There are many survivors who ARE humans. Crowley's daughter and some of the trainers are just examples of those not cursed.

I want Gilneas back. Too beautiful and interesting to go to waste.

We must remember that the peninsula of Gilneas, in theory, is an elongated peninsula that is divided into two zones: the Upper Gilneas and the Lower Gilneas, separated at the middle by the Greymane City, the capital of the Kingdom.

But in WoW we only see one half, although it seems that even that unrepresentative half seems totally unnecessary, considering their future intentions for this area, ie none at all.

A comparison between what should be Gilneas and what is in the game:

You have to give Horde an equivalent zone. Remember, Blizzard used Cata to even up the Horde and Alliance territories (which is why the Alliance lost so much). You wouldn't be too happy to get Gilneas back, only to have it destroyed South Shore style the next time they need to make the Horde and Alliance even, after all.

The Horde can have many more territories they currently have, there is no need to deny to the Alliance any of their territories. But it seems that Blizzard enjoys screwing the Alliance ...

The Horde can have: the entire island of Zandalar (owned by the trolls, Horde race), the entire island of Kezan (owned by the goblins, Horde race) and even new areas of Outland / Draenor old pieces (planet origin of orcs and ogres, both races of the Horde).

Not a big fan of developing content that the Alliance won't even use apart from maybe some early leveling that takes so little time these days it won't even matter. Why waste development time on a zone that will see no use or appreciation?

I'd be alright with it as long as it's phased like the worgen starting quests. That's one of the coolest areas for Horde questing, so I'd rather not lose that just for the sake of appeasing Alliance players with inferiority complex. Wouldn't it be better to simply accomplish something new?

You're not really putting enough consideration into what you're saying. Zandalar was sunk by the Cataclysm, and even then, not all Trolls are in the Horde, just like not all humans are part of the Alliance. Kezen just had a volcano erupt, so it hasn't seen any good days and likely isn't habitable. And nobody owns Outland. Ogres aren't even a Horde race.

The Alliance were only screwed in the sense that they lost their tremendous advantage in territories. They could have added to the Horde instead of subtracting from the Alliance, but then we'd be hearing endless complaints about how the Horde suddenly got half a new continent worth of territories.

So doomed territories far away in the middle of nowhere? No thanks. Zandalar sank into the ocean (its why they are in MoP, looking for replacement land) and Kezan is a blasted, lava-scorched ruin if it is even still above the waves.

How about the Horde get all of Stranglethorn. It's filled with trolls, so maybe the Darkspear can have their new city there to balance out Gilneas.

Don't you know, any time the Alliance loses any advantage they want to cry "Blizzard hates the Alliance and loves to screw us over, the only way to make this equal is to delete the Horde faction"

OT: Gilneas isn't worth the Dev. time, I would rather have new zones I don't hate, than put a few bankers and npc's in Gilneas so the city can be popular for a few weeks before everyone goes back to Stormwind.

Not all of Kezan is destroyed, just one part of it, and unless the volcano is still erupting lava the place should be completely habitable by now. In lore, what happened on Kezan was a few years ago at this point, so any lava that came out of the volcano when it first erupted has pretty much cooled and become completely solid. There is no reason why this island couldn't be a completely new zone.

I'm a fan of PvP, so personally I'd like Gilneas to be a constant warzone.

    Yes, Gilneas should be retaken.

    By the Forsaken.
