HM Megaera 5th head = Wall

Hey Guys. We hit a brick wall on the 5th head of Megaera, esp without our 1-2nd best dps WW present.

Adds got out of control or tanks took 5 breaths and wiped. Seemed like a DPS issue.

Perhaps it's not, just a comp issues. I know we had an ele sham which is parsing lowest on the fight.

Here is the furthest attempt, but there are some other 5minish wipes in there too

I have never done it on 10 man, but 25 man is all about finding the minimum amount of people you need to have on the adds to not get over run. Faster head damage means less adds overall.

From the looks of your logs, you can have less people on the adds and have your ele be on them fulltime. Your shaman should be wrecking the meters with constant chain lightnings.

Once again, things may be very different in 10 man so take this with a grain of salt.

    Hey there!
1st of all the head you're wiping at is arguably the hardest, seems kinda strange you getting 5 breaths tho.
What we did was to lust the 5th head and focus only the head, as soon the adds spawn we had our feral drood picking them up (we didn't have a DK, dks should do that better) and ignoring them, we setted up a rotation to keep them under control while burning the head, we did RoP from our MW , capacitor totem stun , solar beam from simbiosys, 2nd RoP from Brewmaster monk and finally binding shot, at that point the head should be dead ( aim to get MAX 3 breaths , 3 spawn of portals, in our 1st kill we had 2 breaths and 3 spawns ), stack for rampage and have your brewmaster monk spam disorient with breaths while aoeing them down, we do like that every head and works like a charm, at least for us.

Just want to add a note about the ele, being ele myself, ye ele is not very strong on megaera BUT he should do WAY more dmg than that, here's our log from our 1st kill in case you're interested http://worldoflogs.com/reports/5hkbu...?s=2475&e=2948 and even tho being tunneled by torrent of ice has an huge impact on dps it should be in the range of 10-15k

    Hope it helps!

Not sure if it can actually help as my experience comes from doing 25man, but we CC adds on the fifth head with one ring of frost + one solar beam in order to focus the head and get fewer spawned overall. You might want to try it as well, since you have at your disposal remorseless winter + ring of frost + leg sweep + blinding light.

Interesting, we'll definitely try that. Thanks for the breakdown/suggestions

As others have said, the 5th head is argubly the hardest one. While I am in a 25 man guild, we ended up 5 healing and having using a DK to pick up the adds with misdirect. We kill the first two spawns, then cc the third with lock stun followed by mage RoF. We lust as soon as the head spawns and aim to kill it with only 2-3 add spawns. Looking at you're group composition, it seems doable, and if needed only put your shaman on adds during that head as someone else mentioned. Once you manage to get that head down, a kill should happen either that attempt or the next 1-2 pulls. Good luck!

    1. ice
    2. fire *dps cooldowns*
    3. arcane
    4. ice
    5. fire *dps cooldowns*
    6. arcane *bloodlust*
    7. ice

You simply don't want three breath stacks on the fire head, if it takes you slightly longer on the pull that doesn't matter at all. Ignite Flesh ticks for 30k on the first stack, 60k on the second and 90k on the third debuff while always prolonging the duration by another 40ish seconds. And you also guarantee this way that the fifth head dies really fast, regulary before the second breath.

But according to the logs you don't struggle with the 5th fire/green headcombo but rather with 4th ice/green. Get your monktank on this head, use ring of peace from the healer plus his aoe stun and just focus down the head. As stated above, the longer it takes you the more packs will spawn. The more adds are up the more likely it is to get two shots in your face, that in addition to the rampage damage will most certainly kill you.

Yes, Hpal, disc priest, Rdruid, 2x Rsham. We've had healer issues but we 6 healed it this week as far as I know.

5th head is hardest, pop lust and cooldowns. 6th and 7th head are actually quite easy.

adds should never get out of control. just have your brewmaster pick them up with dizzying haze and aoe them down on the active head. paladin can do it, too (might even be preferable because glyphed holy wrath stuns them).

your dps should focus solely on the heads to get them down asap.

Your DPS must be terrible. We 8 heal it and never get a 4th breath.

Does Dizzying Haze + glyphed Breath of Fire stun the adds?

We spent our first night on this and managed to kill the 5th head once (but then died since we weren't stable when rampage started). What makes the 6th head and 7th heads relatively easier? We were assuming the 6th head (second arcane head) would be spawning adds at the rate consistent at the beginning of the fight (since only one head is in the congealing). But wouldn't the final head be spawning adds 3x as fast? Does it just not matter since you cc everything and burn at that point?

Just wondering how close we are if we were just getting the 5th head down on our first night.

Yeah 6th head is pretty chill because there is less adds. What makes the fight hard is that while you are killing a head, you have to worry about transitioning to the next head and not dying to rampage. You have adds to clean up, you have to get to the rampage stack, you have to keep cinders and ice beams clean, etc. Not on the 7th head. Just get that shit down no matter how messy it gets. Some people ignore adds and burn, others kill a set amount and then burn. It depends on how good your add control and dps are.

The damage on adds seems to come from everyone in your group, but mainly DK - in your group the most efficient cleave spells should be Keg Smash, Chain Lightning and Nether Tempest - try to make the rest of your group focus more on the heads so you can make more efficient dps spread. This should help you alot.

    1) In 25M we have our Wyrm Tank and 1 Mistweaver solo the adds. Everyone else is supposed to Single Target Focus the Head. I look at your logs and I see Mind Seer, tab NT, Thrash and heavy Chain Lightning usage.

    2) Frost Beam should never target a melee, and Mistweavers are considered melee for that mechanic, so it's safe for your MW to sit on top of the adds and Spinning Crane Kick, AoE Stun and Ring of Peace

    3) We do not Lust on the 5th head (we use it for 7), but we do use 2nd Potions, and any other major CD's there (doomguards, fire ele, army of the dead, 2nd stormlash, 2nd crit banner)

    4) We also do not have DPS clear any frost patches on the ground during the 4th and 5th head (just get very fast dispels on Cinders)

I don't know where you get the idea that we get a 4th breath. We get 3 when double adds are spawning, two when purple head is active.

Either way, killing the 5th head makes the fight easier as arcane becomes an active head again, thus making only 1 set of adds spawn. With less adds to worry about, more dps on heads, less adds that come out and so forth. Once you work out who needs to be on adds, and who doesn't you should get a kill quick.

2 heal and get max 2 breaths on all heads, it makes everything easier - tank dmg, required add dps + cc, boss abilities etc. Your gear is plenty fine for it, but do make sure you have proper cd rotation for rampages else it will fail quite badly.
Turbo mode underhealing is more fun, gives more dps and generally makes everyone play better.

Do some random cc on adds and cleave them down ontop of heads.

Heard you can one tank it with your tank going over to poison head during rampage to build agro on it before tanking w/e head you're killing. Anyone try this strat?
