Will there be any spectator mode added to arena/rbgs?

Answer : We don't have any plans for a spectator mode in arena/rbgs.

There goes the will of anybody to participate in any kind of rated pvp. This is discouraging on so many levels..

Yeah, I was surprised it was so blunt. Previous answers have always hinted that it was something they'd like to do in the future it just wasn't high priority. This answer shoots the question dead.

All you have to do is approach a pet battle that you will see when you walk close to it. Spectating an arena match would be harder to implement, as there's hundreds of matches going on at the same time and they're instanced as well.

In rbgs I can see it causing a lot of fps/lag issues for some and it would also open the door for cheating. There are already groups that try to throttle ppls ips and do other things to force d/cs, this would be a new way to do that along with allowing ppl to have others watch parts of the map they would never be able to see.

The lack of a spectator mode is whats keeping wow from being on mlg, so I don't think it matters if it's hard to implement or not.

No it's not. It's been implemented on private PvP servers since forever, blizzard is just too shit to do it.

It also makes it very hard to learn to PvP better, especially for unpopular specs.

and the posts under it, read the whole topic actually so you get the idea.

And it doesn't keep wow from being mlg, other things do.

In response to reschachs, there is specator mode at tournamets, so what are you talking about?

No, the lack of spectator mode is keeping wow from being on mlg. %99 that and %1 some irrelevant stuff.

FYI : Its not like most of us players are going to make any money from wow being a succesfull e-sport. But that dismissive post is enough to make us feel like we are playing a second class pvp game.

Ah yes, I even posted in that topic back then.

But I'm not sure what you're trying to tell me... all I see is that blizzard is too shit to do what's been done on private servers already ages ago? Am I missing something?

The best tool to prevent cheating in arena... isn't implemented to prevent cheating? Really?

I think they previously said that they did not want to have extra eyes helping people out and etc. Only reason I remeber them saying no besides bugs/lag.

Would have been fun with a spectator mode, shame

Imagine all the people spectating reckful/swifty or some other e-celeb? When they're streaming they have 5-6k viewers at a time, if they all wanted to spectate in-game I'd assume the lag would be horrendous. If they limit the number of spectators, chances are you're not gonna spectate specific teams any time soon unless they also implement some type of queue. Which is ridiculous. Not to mention plenty of ghosting in RBGS.

It seems like a lot of work when you can just watch 2500+ streams which is basically the exact same thing as spectating.

I still don't understand why some people would want to watch other people play a game all day long. You will not get better by spectating what 2400 people do. Chances are that you won't be able to apply those tactics in whatever lower bracket you play in.

I would like if someone would explain to me why they enjoying watching other people play video games.

Didn't you say you've got no clue about arena in some thread recently?

So /shrug, but I think watching marm play ret/mage at 3050 was pretty awesome.

i dont believe your claim that watching someone play wont increase your skill level. i dont play WoW anymore but i do play LoL and i can say with a straight face that watching some of the best junglers play ive been able to apply those techniques to my game and found it to be quite successful.

certain people absorb information different ways. i hate to read instructions, i find that if i watch someone put something together in a video or in person i can then easily do it myself. can i put something together while reading only the instructions? absolutely but its just easier for me to comprehend if i see someone do it. some people are the other way around.

i apply this to video games as well. i can sit and read about the best players tips, strategies and shit all day long. its just easier for me to absorb that information when i see them actually do it. the same goes for LoL. its leaps and bounds easier for me to watch theoddone or saintvicious when they jungle so i can see what theyre actually doing, versus just reading about it in one of their guides.

i watch people stream games because most of the ones i watch, go into detail as to what theyre doing, why theyre doing and how to do it.

People don't even care about spectating(I personally don't). But it is required in tournaments. It is pretty much whats keeping wow pvp from being more competitive.

Thats the issue most people have with wow not having a spectator mode.
