question about setting up a sound system

hey guys, hope you can help, im in the process in getting a decent sound system thats being connected from my PC, now I do appreciate decent sound quality in both gaming and listening to music and yes where possible I try to have WAV/loss less files as much as possible, and just to note, I currently have a asus xonar DG in my system, wanting a better soundcard but this isnt bad at all for the moment

First off, Im aiming to buy a separate amp, in fact the one that catches my fancy is http://www.amazon.co.uk/Denon-PMA520...enon+amplifier
looks great and Ive heard the sound from some denon sound systems and I personally think its nice, ofc its up for debate which is welcomed in this thread, but in terms of amps, this is my upper price bracket.

Now to the real question, Im aiming to pair possibly http://www.richersounds.com/product/...0/whar-9.0-blk or http://www.amazon.co.uk/GALE-Gale-30...pr_product_top to them, im open to to hear which is better but thats not what Im asking for, Im wondering and this is assuming it works, for the time being, will speakers like these bookshelfs monitors work directly from my sound card output, ofc I will be needing some sort of adapter, but curious to know if they can be powered directly from them, without an amp in between, the amp at the least Im aiming to buy a little later maybe a month or 2.

Im in no rush to buy anything, I want advice and see if people have any experience of this

No, you'll need amplifier somewhere along the chain. You can use active speakers (with built-in amp) with the sound card, but with passive speakers like the one you linked will require separate amplifier. Something like this for example (costs around 200€ here in Finland) http://www.audiopro.com/products/addon-five

ah cheers dude, thats all I needed to know, I prefer a separate amp + bookshelf speaker setup though, was just curious in that regards, thank you.

You can also use fully digital mini amplifiers like these with bookshelf speakers. You'll lose multiple inputs and stuff, but can use with most speakers.
