    Microsoft Word 2007

Hey all, I have a quick question regarding line spacing in Microsoft Word 2007. I'm writing a paper that must be "double spaced". However, according to the professor, quotes longer than four lines must be single spaced. So, how, if possible, do you "single space" a portion of a document? I've tried highlighting just the portion I want single spaced and changing the spacing, but it changes the entire document. I've searched all around Google and the only thing I've been able to find is how to set line spacing as a whole, not for specific portions. I would greatly appreciate if anyone could shed some light on this situation!

Haven't tried it, but guessing that custom text styles would do it. Set whole document double spaced and have custom style for single spaced quotes.
Never going to log into this garbage forum again as long as calling obvious troll obvious troll is the easiest way to get banned.
    Trolling should be.

I'll try this and see what I can do. When I emailed the prof. asking how to do it how he wanted, he said that he wasn't a "computers teacher"... Fair point, but still a turd thing to say :P

Highlight the text you want to be single line and hit this button: http://i.imgur.com/HkybmZ2.png

The screenshot was taken with Word 2010, but Word 2007 is exactly the same if I recall correctly.

That's what I tried to do at first, but it just makes the entire document single spaced, even though I only have the quote highlighted.

Here is what I have: http://gyazo.com/956233f30fdd1d7de7a058799e249342
Here is my last paper, after it had been graded: http://gyazo.com/bfbdf6d0a2acd5195e6292534d66aefd

I can't seem to figure out how he did it, he won't tell me and I can't find it online :<

I had just come back to say that I figured it out and this is exactly what I had to do. Thanks for the replies!
