Can I run this Graphics card?

    Hey dudes,

A friend wants to sell me his graphics card, an ATI Sapphire HD 6870 ( http://www.sapphiretech.com/presenta...pid=496&leg=0# ) but, from what I've seen, I might have a problem with my power supply, which is this one: http://www.hardwarest.com/product/En...00W-47200.html

Apparently it doesn't meet the requirements but I'm honestly not sure. Can anyone gimme a little help?

    Appreciated!

Not even close, you need a new power supply. You would probably even need adapters to use the card.

What is the rest of your system like?
Personally my I5 2500k @ stock settings with a gtx 570 and 3 hdd is using just over 300watts with prime 95 and furmark going full blast.
I would expect a 6870 with similar cpu to use less then that.
I have tx-750v2 psu which is overkill and then some.

Keep in mind 2 of the drives are wd green so that reading was possibly with 2 of them idling/heads parked.

a 400W PSU (which is probably not even 80+ bronze) would be struggling, and cutting it close is not a good idea.

Have fun. This site did well in helping me decide that it wasn't worth upgrading from a 300W PSU despite replacing the GPU (albeit to the highest end AMD model which runs without additional power), CPU and adding an extra hard disk.

Having to add all fans etc. to that is a waste of time, but it's worth using nonetheless, if you want to spend half a year figuring out if your PSU can handle something it's not designed for. (which it doesn't even say, btw )

A decent 450w to 500w ought to do it. XFX would be a decent choice.
