    PvP Gearing - from scratch.

    Hullo PvPers!

I've been a lot more active in this forum since starting my new PvP toon. As some of you may have already read in other posts I've thrown around recently, I've not properly PvP'd since TBC. So my new little Rogue (now 76) will be wanting to gear up ASAP and I like to plan things out a bit. I've already got 5/8 of the Crafted Dreadful Gladiator's Vestments made and ready to go, only got the gloves and head of the actual set so far, hoping my LWing mate learns the others before I hit 90, as not sure there will be any on the AH =/ But I'm hoping that when I start I'll have all the 'leather' bits of gear as well as a tailoring cloak.

Assuming i can get all that stuff I figured as I then start the honor grind I figure I'll want to pick up gear in the following order:

    1 - PvP Trinket
    2 - PvP Dagger
    3 - PvP Dagger
    4 - Other PvP Trinket
    5 - PvP Ring
    6 - PvP Ring
    7 - PvP Neck
8 - Start Replacing crafted PvP gear

Would you more experienced folk agree with that gear order? I figure I'll probably want to wait until I've got PvP gear of some sort in all slots before starting in arena to start saving conquest points...

You should also plan for the changes to how gear is acquired in 5.3 and other pvp changes in that patch.

You won't be able to buy the daggers so fast, as you need ~7800 or something like that total honor earned this season to get weapons.

you need 7250 "season total earned" honor before you can buy weapons id go with both trinkets then weapons. after that the jewelry and then starting to replace your crafted gear. Dont forget you can spend conquest points to fill in some caps as you can get 1800 your first week so u can use that on 1750 cp items ( shoulder, gloves, belt, boots, trinkets ) or you can save it up and spend it on major piece like helmet, chest or legs next week. also remember to do nalak & sha if rng is strong in you.

funny note: if you have a healer or tank or you are get fast dungeon queues as dps they are way faster than bgs for honor grinding. if you do end up with either long bg or dungeon queues dont forget to go to ksangarang wilds and kill those opposite faction npcs, they give you like 800-900 honor in total and have a spawn timer of 30ish minutes.

If you want to get into arenas asap, which I think everyone should to practice as well as start farming conquest right away since gear is so important now this is how I would go about gearing a fresh toon:

This would be honor spending priority after buying full crafted dreadful including all offset and cape
    1. medallion - I usually just get one of the old legacy ones from BC for 100 honor
    2. rings/neck - the only things that dont have crafted dreadful versions
    3. upgrades

I would start out using 2 crafted 463 daggers and a pve 2ndary trinket

This would be the absolutely minimum and quickest way to start doing arena as it gives you everything necessary for proper pvp except that you will explode with such little resil. It shouldn't be too bad though as a rogue is one of the easier classes to carry in 2s since regardless of gear you have a lot of cc and can get a good opener with another burst/god class like a mage.

Changes? I know that they're removing the conquest vendors until 5.3, but I doubt I'll be visiting them until then anyway as a) I'm not 90 yet, and b) 5.3 should be fairly soon because the background downloader is already going.

But I'll need about that much honor to buy them surely? without knowing actual totals I'm sure once I've brought my PvP Trinket and saved up for 2 daggers if I've not passed 7800 I'll be not far from it?

    trinket + dagger + dagger = 1750 + 1750 + 1750 = 5250 ( 2k points off = no where near )
    trinket + trinket + dagger + dagger = 1750 + 1750 + 1750 + 1750 = 7000 ( 250 off from the points needed for daggers )

you need 7250 total earned honor/conquest points to buy weapons ( bound to change in 5.3 )

I was considering the dungeon route, but figured I'll need the PvP practice at the same time, might just see how queues go tbh, thanks for the heads up about those NPC's they'll come in handy! Not done any of the ksangarang wilds stuff yet.

So do you suggest doing arena straight away? like before I'm fully pvp geared?

I'm currently using the vanilla medallion, but thats on a 5 min CD, could get an older medalion to get further upgrades quicker and then possibly get the conquest medallion early on? My thoughts for getting the daggers early on was that they'll be the biggest dps booster from the ~450 ilvl daggers I'll probably be using? I'll be leveling BSing when I hit 90 so could see about trying to make the daggers as well...

Hopefully someone in my guild will be able to help me cap in 2's while I wait for my friends to finish levelling up their toons.

you cant buy the weapons untill the 7kish mark

so get both trinkets, and your lower ilvl ring/neck/back replaced. then upgrade the weapons and go for the rest of the gear going from lowest ilvl to ilvl

you will need about 25k honor to get all your things, have fun being everyone's favourite target while you grind

you pretty much have to cap every reset specially on a fresh toon and "this late" into the season. ofc if you ding 90 on tuesday you kinda have to go do arenas on whatever gear you get your hands on. just find some half decent dps to queue into 2s.

also the point with my buy order earlier was that once you reach that 7250 you have bought 2x1750 honor pieces and have 3500k honor saved up to instantly buy the 2 daggers ( before weapons you wont be doing any significant dmg cause you lack ~18% pvp power )

ofc the buy order has room for changes, cause you gotta take into account where are you going to spend your first 2 weeks of conquest points 3,6k if you dont increase it via rbg's/arenas/isle of conquest dailies. if 5.3 is just around the corner and you dont mind sittin on ~4k conquest points you should b able to buy the tyrannical pvp weapons as soon as 5.3 hits cause they are removing the season total earned to buy weapons.

sad but true as a rogue. last season everybody was focusing rogues in bgs cause of end of cata, now they are doing it for the current state of rogues.

Definitely didn't expect everything to be that cheap, thought the weapons would be closer to 2.5k a pop =/

If you have the patience, cap 4k honor and 4k justice before 90, It will help.

I think I'm currently sitting on about 400 honor (try to do at least the daily BG while leveling) and 24 JP \m/

I would also recommend doing LFR if you have any plans to PVE as well. Whilst it may not have resilience or power, it's definitely suitable for increasing your health and damage somewhat. Also the possibility of 476 PVE Daggers and items for slots you don't have crafted for.
    Dristereau - Axxolentus - Infernus - Sequentia - Nulo - Desterrar

    Silvermoon
    - Shadowsong/Aszune - Tarren-Mill/Dentarg (SL Mage Tower: 29/36
    )

yeh while it is a prodominantly PvP toon I'm sure LFR will happen as well! Once I hit 90 I need to work on grinding honor and farming mats to power level BSing while queuing =D but once thats done I'll be hitting up some LFR as well. oh and trying to farm a good transmog set

About buying gear, you can also "rent" honor gear as well, which is a nice way to buff yourself while waiting to get your 7250. By "rent" I mean buy the rings, neck, etc. and just turn them back in for a refund at the end of the night/before the time expires (which stops when you log out).

So let's say you are 1000 shy of getting your weapon(s) due to the 7250 restriction, don't sit on that honor, by an off piece when you make up that 1000 honor in a few BGs, return it for a refund an buy your weapon. Better for those wanting a 3750 weapon, but can also work for Rogues. That way you can buy both your daggers at the same time.

This is a great way to artificially buff yourself early while gearing up.

Remember to spend your conquest on gear that doesn't drop from Nalak too. so Chest then Shoulder then Helm then Weapons

the first thing you need to do is make sure you run some bgs on your way to 90.make sure when you hit 90 your are honor and justice point caped.i always pick up the 4 piece set first "if i could not get weapon" just for the set bonuses.spend all the honor you got then covert the justice point into honor.you can get alot of gear this way as soon as you hit 90.then run bgs and get more gear.once you at 5k honor earned "or close to it" stop buying stuff and save your honor for your weapon.then pick up your weapon and finish your honor set.this is really really easy to do and should take you maybe a day or two to have a full set.

if you luck out and get av weekend or something,it makes it all the easier.like i said getting the honor set is simple, just sit down and grind it out.its so easy to get honor gear and thats the main reason im so against this new gear scaling crap blizz came up with.because if you really want to pvp on your new toon, you will see how easy it is to get honor set.

also you might want to hold off on buying any more of the crafted pvp set.if you do things the way i described above-you will not need much if any of the crafted set. im 99% sure you can have the 4 set pice bonus as soon as you hit 90 without doing a single 90 level bg. chest is what 2200?head =2200= shoulder 1650, gloves 1650.so thats about 7700 honor.if your caped like i said to be bang that 4 k,then a couple 1000 more from the justice point exchange and you got or very close to 4 set pieces without stepping foot in a level 90 bg..

if you wanted to buy some of the crafted set,i would pick up the small thing like the belts, bracers, ect and buy the 4 piece honor gear from the start.
