Hello,

been putting off getting Glory of the Hero because I can't be bothered with Oculus. However, someone just /w me when I was looking for more saying it can be soloed. Is this true? I don't think one drake could kill Eregos, but I don't know if the drakes scale to your gear.

I'm not pretty sure if it can be soloed but i know it can be done with just 2 people, even more if you have one without a drake cause he will be able to do more damage, the one in the drake just have to make sure to have the boss near the second player (it helps more if the one without the drake is a range class)...

actually you can kill Eregos HC without a drake, he doesn't do much dmg.. just pick a drake to fly up and kill him without dragon, goes fast and counts like "with none of *this dragon color" achievement.

drakes do scale with your gear, but i can't say how much, and if its like ulduar where 1 tank can easily solo FL.

It's doable from the platform, but if you don't have any ranged attacks you
might have to find someone to help you out. (and no, the drakes do not scale with gear)

Oculus, back when it was current, was the ickiest awfulest painfulest dungeon out there.
That would be the reason behind this comment(that's my guess at least) LOL.

Heh, after all that time of putting it off, it turns out it can be done with only 1 person. Well, some of the achievements. Getting credit for killing him while on a drake requires two as you can't remount in combat.

Hey, I'm not the one doing the achievement. But the mere mention of the name makes me nauseous.

They used to "scale with gear". They used to take a snapshot of your gear, because it was common practice to mount, remove gear, then remount. That way if you died you didn't suffer any damage to your armor. This was not working as intended so towards the end of the expac blizz just gave them set stats. If anything has been done to them since then I don't know.

Yes, all four of those achievements are soloable now. Some much more annoying and difficult than others.

Although to be fair, what made it horrendous is dungeon finder. If you had a group with at least two people who were unfamiliar with the dungeon and that were somewhat dense, this became a trainwreck real quick. Same goes when leveling alts through dungeons via DF at around 77-80.

Imo Oculus was probably the best 5 man heroic in wotlk. It was trivial when done with people that knew what to do, and so much fun watching idiot heroes dieing all the time to random crap. Also doable with 2 players in wrath, good times.
