The most gold I've ever had (total all toons) was around 50k but never more than approximately that.
Less than 100k
Capped or more
Like 20kg, it's not very easy making gold on a dead server, the only thing that sells on my AH are gems and of course, I don't have jewel crafting. The other day in all there were 50 items on AH. So hopefully it's kind of obvious what kind of spot I'm in -.-
The people then spend this gold on the auction house, for various things, which is then handed over to you. In a sense you didn't actually make any gold, they did, you just hoarded it in. Yes, they are trying to make gold, that's the main reason a lot of people do dailies. Did you know that there are guides that tell you to farm gold via farming the troggs in deepholm? They have instant respawn and you can run around killing them all day and make quite a bit without even touching the auction house.
Anyone who has tried this method, has tried to make gold. Anyone who has done dailies with the intention of making gold, has tried to make gold, it's as simple as that. The auction house isn't the only method of making it, it might be the most efficient one, but it's by far not the only one. Especially not when, as I said, the auction house doesn't even generate gold for the server, it diminishes it via the cost of submitting items and the 5 % cut the AH takes for every sold item.
300k... also people who post on mmo champ arn't "average" players. I could be gold capped easy just see no point. Been around 300k for years now and have no reason to make more.
even if i did every single quest in mists and cata on every one of my alts and sold all non needed gear i would probably still have less than 90k gold across all toons.
was never above 20k. once mop hit, it was so easy to make gold using professions to sell things on the AH. with auctionator, it's easy mode. at 150k right now and counting. i never have bought or spent more than 5k on anything (flying) and don't plan on it. its just nice to have lots of gold. i sometimes let my gf have some spare gold when she needs things like gems or mats to level up professions.
Now if you have a more common sense approach to what making gold is, which is the AH, then you will see practically none fail at it. IF<- they take the time to setup the adons, find a market in their AH that is not/poorly covered and use it to their advantage for a 5-10min day. Now THAT is trying, and 99,9% will succssed.
As I have said several times, the auction house does not generate any gold to the server, it diminishes it. If everyone did what you do, nobody would make any gold, everyone would be sitting around undercutting each other.
right now 16k on one realm, 8k on the other (which i am currently playing on) and about 4k on the third.
Never really had more than 20k at one time, except for the beginning of MoP, where i made about 150k. then i decided to reroll on a new realm, and thus spent all that money on mounts and stuff i could use on my new realm :O
Srsly, the only thing i really do is raiding, and unfortunately you do not make enough money by killing bosses to support just raiding (especially due to the stupid weapon and bracer enchant prices :<). In Cata there was no such problem, because we had the trollheroics before the second raid tier, which pretty much dropped the price of all high-end enchants, but unfortunately no epic gear from dungeons this time around t.t
If I didn't level professions, run a leveling guild with amazing perks gold wise, or have alts to buy all sorts of toys on, I'd sit probably between 400-500K.
I see no point in having that much scratch though, so I spend it as I make it, and I sit with anywhere from 2-5k in the 'bank'.
Once I get higher than that, I ask myself what I can blow my money on this time.
When you play the AH, you make gold in the same sense you make money when you go to work IRL. Now on your stand, since we are trying to twist words and sound smart, that means nearly every person in every country that uses any type of paper/coin currency does not make money when they go to work or sell products.. because they are not printing it. The only people in the world who generate money are those who work at the printing places their government uses. Unless they are making counterfeit money, which I myself don't really count as real money on the account that it isn't, very very very few people in the world actually create money. You are only trying to twist his words. Now lets look at what "make" means
a. To gain or earn, as by working: make money.
b. To behave so as to acquire: make friends.
c. To score or achieve, as in a sport: made a field goal.
I think your argument, is invalid and holds no weight. I guess it could if he was saying he creates gold, or maybe to go as far as saying he generates it... but even generate can still apply the same way as make. Um.. GG
