Fast and Easy meal to make - Fried Cabbage Dish

Your proberly thinking Fried Cabbage dish? what the???

Its not all that it seems, heres what you need to make this

ngredients:
1 lb bacon, finely chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
2 lbs cabbage, finely diced
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (Optional, if you can handle spice, if you cant dont use a lot or none at all)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:
Fry bacon until crisp and well browned.

Drain and set aside.

Add chopped onion to the bacon grease and stir until translucent.

Add cabbage, pepper flakes, salt and pepper, stirring until all cabbage is coated.

Add the crumbled bacon bits and cover.

Cook over low heat until cabbage is tender.

Turns out quite nice and like this:




Now with Bacon, onions and Cabbage, its all depending on how many your cooking for, if its for your self, 3 Strips of bacon, 1 onion and half a cabbage will do you.

If you have any cabbage left over you can chop it up and add mayo, black pepper, shaved carrots, and raisins to it. Make a damn fine coleslaw.

seems good to me as long as you use natural frying oil, not processed ones and don't use it too much. Tho I would prefer boiled meals over fried ones.

If you ever go to a Chinese place, order Beef & Onions. You don't have to eat the onions, but they give amazing taste. Your opinion on onions will change.

Yea, but you can hate one thing and like another. Just because it all falls under the Chinese umbrella means you'd think the same about all of it. Just try beef & onions, with plain rice, trust me.

Props for using cabbage, it's an undervalued veggie, but that doesn't look too apetizing, nor is it an actual meal Like Mr. Moon above, to me it looks more like a side dish.

I'm from Queensland, and I make the same exact thing all the time.

quick, easy and tastes AMAZING.

I often add Garlic aswell, or even sliced pickles for a little extra ZING.

people saying it doesn't look like a Meal. You greatly underestimate just how quickly it fills your stomach.

Need some variation in texture. It all sounds a bit mushy. Maybe putting it inside or on something crunchy would be alright.
