I'm just sitting here generally speculating about what trinket in my current arsenal have the best synergy per bossfight, and I found my good old Mirror of Broken Images and was wondering what role resistances have nowadays? Could it be worth a shot if I am, for example, tanking the flaming or the venomous head on Magaera? Or any other high magic damage fight like High Priestess Mar'li from the Council of Elders?

Unfortunately, resistance trinkets were nerfed in 5.1 for exactly the reason you want to use them for.
