    "Would you rather" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1999995/

Saw this last night, it was brilliantly written and one of the most original films I've seen in a while.

You might argue that it's not completely original because of this little bugger; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Django_(film)

That is quite the movie, watched it awhile ago and it was good.

I'm adding Reservoir Dogs and Goodfellas, with the latter not being 100% original having been influenced by a different story.

what was the last great original movie you saw.
Pan's Labyrinth, absolutely amazing and beautiful movie. One of the best movies I've ever seen.
I'm quite sure it's an original one.
You might think you know it before you see it, but I promise you, it's not what it seems. Not all what it seems anyway!

The Mist isn't an original movie, its's based on a Stephen King short story(and is one of the very few instances in history where the movie version of something has a MORE downbeat ending than the book/story does)

I didn't realise we were meant to be comparing across entire media types!

That said, the Mist is the weakest in terms of originality at core in that list, superficially, but not when taken as a whole - in other words, you have to see it and not rely on trailers to understand that it is most certainly not a typical movie. So, I had hesitated to include it for that reason, but I still think it is worth listing.

Is there just a bunch of kids here.
    Terminator
    Robo Cop
Since animated films keep coming up.
Most disney movies from the 80's and 90's
Not many mentions of older movies, the real classics (besides Asics post and the one about Rebecca). Movies like Shawshank Redemption, Schindler's list, Pulp fiction, High Noon. I love watching these. "FLAME ALERT" I love the Wizard of Oz. I know it's from a book, but a great movie.

I'd imagine you're not seeing older movies because it says the last great original movie. At least that's why I didn't name anything from a decade or two ago.

The last great original movie(s) you saw were Terminator and Robo Cop? What are you, an octogenarian who stopped watching movies in the 80s?

Ah, good point. Thanks for that correction!

Terminator was on tv the other day. My movie times are now filled with boring and dumb movies for children. If I want to watch something decent I have to wait til after the kids are down and then struggle hear it or read captions . I am not that old btw, only 30. I am just a fan of the classics. I could go for Apocalypse Now right now please.

I highly recommend Mud which is the best film I have seen in a long time.
If you are tired of special effects and are looking for a refreshing scenario that you didn't already see 20 times, if you want to appreciate great actors that can play interesting parts, this is really a movie not to miss.

No, it's not "just a bunch of kids here", it's a bunch of people who have seen movies newer than those, so the LAST great original movie we saw wouldn't necessarily be something like Terminator or Robocop(even if you're using "last" to refer to "most recently watched", rather than "most recently released", I've seen Inception and I Saw the Devil more recently than Terminator and Robocop, even though I own all 4 of them)
