What's next on agenda? Violence in dreams? Is it moral to have such dreams?
All right, gentleperchildren, let's review. The year is 2024 - that's two-zero-two-four, as in the 21st Century's perfect vision - and I am sorry to say the world has become a pussy-whipped, Brady Bunch version of itself, run by a bunch of still-masked clots ridden infertile senile sissies who want the Last Ukrainian to die so they can get on with the War on China, with some middle-eastern genocide on the side

They would just outright ban it if they feel it's not morally correct or suitable for any audience. Just like they did with Postal 2, Marijuana, certain alcoholic drinks, homosexuality etc etc. Your argument in your first post is valid and that's how things should be done, but the history of governmental conduct suggest that it won't be handled that way unfortunately.

No it's not. The government should ban all violent experiences. And enforce those bans with... violence! Yes!

My personal take on photorealism: I see it whenever I look out of the window, and I don't care for it one bit.

Oh, and there is one thing: No matter how real it is, games are games and reality is reality. Forget that and you have lost already.
With that in mind, even the holodeck wouldn'nt "harm" me. (I'd use the pornodeck first to begin with guhehe)

Ok well... maybe I shouldn't have blown up at you. But where is Portal 2 banned? This is the first I've heard of this.

It was banned in Sweden as far as I know. They seem to have removed it from the ban list now though.
Here you can see what type of games have been banned throughout the world and for what reasons: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_banned_video_games

That's my bad. He said Postal originally, but I thought he was correcting himself (herself?), but Portal must have been the actual typo.

Himself and indeed it was a typo. Don't think anyone could find any reason whatsoever to ban Portal.
Portal must be the most harmless game ever

Yeah, I was saddened by his "death" but I still knew it was fiction. It's a weird place, having an emotional response to a fictional event, but it doesn't mean we think it's real.
It's not strange at all though. You can have romantic relationships with people who don't even exist- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manti_Teo#Girlfriend_hoax

Our brains process things as if they were equally real on both sides of the aforementioned "uncanny valley". Only by being actively aware that what we're viewing or doing is fantasy are we able to tell the difference.

Military drone pilots kill people remotely with a joystick and a TV screen. Their understanding that they're killing real people is based on context, in exactly the same way as your understanding that you're killing fake people in Call of Duty.

I wonder what WoW would be like with realistic graphics. Oh my god those hunters are ganking the hell out of that rogue, Oh wait that is a police chase.

If you can't differentiate between a video game and reality, the video game isn't the problem.

Haha ban Portal 2! It encourages violence against potatoes!

It someone is susceptible to that behaviour then realism will not matter.
There has already been such behaviour attributed to games, some of them not particularly realistic or accurate.
