Whens the "next big game"?

my money is on destiny. if anyone can create a new IP and make it succeed. its bungie. if they do anything with it like they did with the original halo trilogy, people will be playing that game for years to come

Nah. When we're talking about the next big thing, we're talking about cult status. At least, if we go along with the games listed in the OP. No MMO in the near future will reach that, and I don't think one will until a good VR MMO comes out.

No man, you're not getting it. We're not talking about a sequel game. We're talking about a new franchise that will attain cult-like status. Mario Kart or Mario 3D or any new Link game will never surpass the franchise itself, they will always be Mario and Zelda games.

Uhh what ? I am pretty sure Bioshock and Call of duty are multi multi million unit sellers ...Maybe it's just that you don't play them ? Wow's next expansion which I am sure will released at the end of the year will be the next HUGE seller ( 7+ million units )

edit : oh and like someone said " last of us " ...I don't play consol games or shooters but I will be playing that game ...it looks fucking amazing .

How can they sell 7million+ units when they don't even have 7 million+ people playing in US/EU? China doesn't have to buy the game.

Resident evil revelations is coming next week and for the next major releases in upcoming months:

June - Marvel Heroes, Last of Us
July - nothing big really, is a "dead" month
August -Lost Planet 3, Splinter Cell Black List
September - GTA V, Total War Rome 2, FIFA 14
October - Assassins Creed 4, Batman Arkham Origins, Battlefield 4 and hopefully Dark Souls 2

I've never claimed any past MMOs to be the "next big thing" or the "wow killer", but I really believe that Wildstar could be that perfect storm that takes everyone by surprise. My main reasoning is solely because it's the first MMO since wow to truly have charm - and that's the main reason I believe wow was so successful and has the following that it does(did).

I have been enjoying SC2 since its release and still play it a lot everyday so I don't really need new games that much. I am quite bored of WoW right now though because I have been playing for very long time. Only games I am waiting are DA3:Inquistition and The Witcher 3:Wild Hunt. Blizzard doesn't seem like they will release anything big other than xpacs anytime soon. and What exactly is this Wildstar game? neve heard of it..

Watch Dogs looks amazing, can't wait to play it.

Also, I don't think the next big game will be an MMO... not even a chance. I'm thinking it'll be Grand Theft Auto 5... mainly because every single GTA that comes out is a huge hit.

I honestly believe Destiny could be the next "big thing" in the next 5 years. I'm just reading about it and I'm already wanting to buy it, I'm wondering though, considering it will have MMO elements, shouldn't it have a beta etc.?
