If Heroic Jin'rokh was a 40 man raid boss in Vanilla

How long would it take for the world first kill?

  2. #2
Assuming the 40 players were of equal skill to the 25 raiders in a world-first guild, probably the same amount of time.

  3. #3
Not more than 1 attempt, vanilla players were way more skilled.
    Retired

If the boss was tuned as it is now? About the same amount of time. If it was tuned by vanilla standards, awhile.

  5. #5
World first won't take that much time, but having a single player eating a spark/not getting out for dispel wipe the entire raid, and then having to dodge the sparks on the intermissions?

He, not many servers would get a kill back then. If you don't remember having >1/4 of your raid being horrible, you either had a lot of luck or an inusual high quantity of pink tint on your glasses.

    that sarcasm :x

If a boss of that "complexity" (comparing now to vanilla), probably forever lol.
Also even if it's damage and healing requirements are pretty lenient nowadays, it would be extremely hard to even find 40 people with enough knowledge of their class back in the day, would probably take forever.

Vanilla players didn't have half the skill of today's end-game rauders. This was largely a result of so much of the game's mechanics being unknown, but that doesn't change the fact that it's true.

I'm just gonna put it out there, everyone had crap computers back then. 40 people locking up and dying every lightning storm. Boss impossible.

  10. #10
It would probably die in one attempt and be the easiest boss in the instance. Stack NR gear, profit.

You're talking about Vanilla mechanics, right?

People would die from boredom fighting this boss since it would take weeks of beating on him (in one attempt) to kill him since he has hundreds of millions of HP (while Rag had 1m). :P

    depends on "when" in vanilla.
MC was easy, BWL was a bit more challenging ( remember cromagus?) and it became even more difficult - AQ40 at Cthun was also challeging, and really really fun.
Naxxramas in vanilla also had some challenging encounters - The 4 horsemen was for many the biggest challeng, and had alot more complexity than the version in WOTLK.
Dont say vanilla was easy - perhaps MC, but from there it became more and more challeging

I believe it would take atleast an evening of attempts tbh. The major problem being ionization ofcourse, but with a strong raid leader I think that would be handled easily. And lightning storm wouldn't be a problem, just let a resser drop from combat and chain res people after lightning storm. We are talking this boss with vanilla mechanics right?

But as I am writing this, if it truly was a vanilla boss it should be a hell for tanks. Even if it isn't taunt immune during the first throw as the offtank has to pick it up, no one would be able to dps, so the boss would last atleast another 4-5 minutes compared to now. No dps would be able to dps it during the first pool.

    Lol yep vanilla mechanics

Wouldnt Ionization be absolutely terrible. Couldnt only one or two healers dispel magic?
Also wouldnt alliance dps be WAY lower since in the pools they wouldnt have lust.
As was said above.. OH GOD the aggro...

Long as you spread outside you can just let it run out... Great solution if your healers suck at communicating dispels and would otherwise have you waiting outside for 5-10seconds.

There was no bloodlust at all in classic.

As been said, it wouldn't take long especially with the nature resistance gear stacking.

Honestly, Chromaggus wasn't that hard nor was C'thun after he got hotfixed (see: not nerfed but HOTFIXED). The biggest "challenge" of 4 horsemen, while it was harder than WotLK version, was gearing up 8 tanks to take them on.

I think you can't compare it because the difficulty of raids back then was based on several things that aren't present anymore wherase nowadays it's mostly about how skilled your players are

    Time investment for farming
    Full buffed T2 > unbuffed T3
That was several hundred goals PER try
