    Battlefield: Barrens

    Hello,

Don't get me wrong, I like that Blizzard have added a slightly new way to get rewards and I don't think it's all that bad but, is that it? I went and got an item from the quatermaster only to find it's ilevel 489? What's the point? I don't care too much about getting the cosmetic items, so am I done Battlefield: Barrens already after only 1 session?

It's great valor and it's convenient for skipping LFR on alts. If you don't care about either, then yes, you are done.

I'm quite confused about what this area is supposed to provide/offer.

I did the lead in stuff, completed the weekly quest, got the Hordebreaker achievement....now what? Am I supposed to come back to this area from time to time just to farm more materials and get vanity items? Is the area going to randomly open up into larger events down the road? There are a lot of unanswered questions, and aside from the weekly 200 valor quest, it appears as though this entire area is useless for anyone who doesn't need the 489 gear.

A little more information on what is supposed to be happening there should have been provided in game.

I believe Blizzard stated the events wouldn't be there forever, so all the vanity rewards are available for a limited time only That's why I'm doing it!

I quite like it, as pointed out its a nice alternative way to gear up alts.
My only gripe with it is trying to kill mobs that are generally stolen mid cast, or Druids swooping down in flight form to steal the supplies that your killing the mob that was guarding it.
It's just rude and bad manners.

There's Brawler's guild and a huge number of PVP additions.

I actually like the fact Blizzard didn't 80% focus on the PVE aspect and gave the PVPers the spotlight for once. Nice to see.

    Just a thing.

5.1 PvP focused. 5.2 PvE focused 5.3 PvP focused 5.4 PvE focused, and likely 5.5 PVP focused.

Yeah. There were some world pvp elements to 5.1, but most of the content was scenarios and daily quests, which are pve even if you're killing opposite faction npcs for them.

Well.. I was wondering about the same too tbh. I did the whole hordebreaker crap but I'm not really compelled to do more, it was incredibly boring and tedious to get the 150 mats and the only thing I cared about was the pet. I may go for the brawler thing maybe if I can be bothered but...... ...I'm not sure I can. There's nothing interesting in spending an hour grinding mobs and flying fast as fuck to hopefully get to a champion in time. In this hour I saw one alliance caravan spawn and that "escort" consisted mostly out of walking for 10minutes or so.

I don't know. I'm forcefully reminded of the SWTOR crap in that PvP area, I forgot the name.

And anywho, as for world PvP, I was on two different servers during this grind and saw a whopping two horde. With server imbalances, world pvp is not happening.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but 480 is the minimum iLevel for ToT LFR?

So just do BF:B for a while and you can probably bypass LFR ToT entirelly.

If SoO LFR starts at 490, then with a few upgrades (using VP from BF:B) you can get into that quickly as well.

The gear rewards are meant for people who dont raid
For raiders the gear is supposed to be 100% useless

how can it be PvP focused?
Most of the new content, dailies and scenarios, are all PVE elements

Here's my litmus test for new patch dailies:

Can I fly in the zone? Yes? LOVE IT

    No? HATE IT.

How is it convenient for skipping LFR on alts? It takes less time to gear up and run your LFR every week than it would take to collect 600 resources on an alt that probably isn't going to be doing great dps because they are still gearing up in the first place.

They need to make Radical Mojo BoA. THEN this might be a useful addition for alts. Until then, NOPE.

I finished the weekly in about an hour killing the commanders with a pack of people who flew around.

If you're talking about gearing 1-10 alts, then yeah it's probably not as efficient as throwing charms around like a rich guy.

But for a single character, it can be used alongside LFR, dailies, and upgrades to make gearing probably the least painful it's been all expansion.

How dare they make an event in-game not tailored to you specifically?

And yeah finishing the weekly quest takes about an hour of following around the zerg of people doing Commanders.

Took me like an hour to do it. I just grouped with four other peeps, ran around like a madman Rain of Fireing every spawn in sight and letting the others handle the killing. It was loads of fun. We even set up a rotation with our warlocks so we could finish the whole thing every week on our alts.

5.1 did it right in my opinion. Sure it was more dailies but there were useful VP faction rewards and an awesome story quest chain that took a couple weeks to see. In 5.3 we get useless rewards and a quest chain that can be completed in one sitting... Feels like they dropped the ball with this patch.
