Lei Shen HC 25 man, help needed.

    Hi,

I am here to ask the forum a little help for this boss.
We almost got the full strat ready ( besides the intermission phases) but any tips or tricks are always welcome for the normal phases aswell.

Yesterday was our 'real' 1st night of progress on him and it went like shit..
people died as soon as the intermission phase started.
Helm of command felt OK with 4 locks, so no issue there.
Could some1 tell me what groups are best with what kind of cd's ?
I figuered something out myself but apperentally it doesn't work or some ppls just sucked, no idea.
I do know that we are not bad, we killed heroic animus for the 2nd time Yday after only 10 pulls, so the skills and gear are there. ( Victus guild at shattered hand)

    http://worldoflogs.com/guilds/204021/

If you wanna have a look at our setup go ahead and give some comment ( see logs)( ppls on standby that are not in the lei shen logs = 1 moonkin / 1 warrior dps / 1 unholy dk / 1mage (bad dps tho)

FYI, We went 6 healers and barely made the 65% at the 4th Pillar.

Any help or usefull information will be much appreciated =)

    Thanks.

Concerning the transitions, there are a few things you need to know. Mastering the first transition (meaning getting out of it with 0 deaths and all BR's up) is hard, very hard. Here are the keys steps to mastering this:
-All your raid members should understand perfectly how the transition works. It's always the same order: Chain -> Overcharge -> Bouncing + Helm -> Static shock
-Soaking the static shock will cause most of the deaths in the different groups you have.
-Normally this fight is done with 5 healers (we got him this way). Put 2 healers on the plateform with the least immunities.
-Spreading immunities is crucial. Immunities should always be kept for the first transition and having a lot of immunities (especially for the healers) is good.
-Immunities include: Shadow priest / Mage / Warlock / Rogue / Druid (Symbiosis Boomkin -> Rogue Healer -> Hunter Feral -> Shadow Priest) / Monk (not sure about healer) / Hunter / Paladin.
    - Stack the classes with immunities, immunities will save you a lot of wipes on transitions. A lot.

Now let's get to the transition itself. This is how it goes. At 66.5% the melees go to their respective platforms. At 65.5 you have a druid use glyphed roar to get the rest of the players to their plateforms. People should have fixed spots where they have to be. Spots are to be spread 8 yards from each other as the first thing that comes is the chain. As soon as the chain hits, you group up on the overcharged player. If an add has spawned on your platform, you should bump him away, stun him and burst him as fast as possible without using any long cooldowns. The overloaded people should warn the other platforms if they are close to them, so that they don't get stunned when going to soak. When the overload starts, people go back to their places to get ready for the first bouncing soak + helm. People should prioritize soaking any bouncing balls close to their spot. More rules for soaking will be detailed further in my post. The person with the helm has to do a very precise move: he should rush the demonic gate on the side and click on it as soon as he can. Once he has tp'ed to the center of the plaform, he should (this is very important) start running against the push of the helm. Doing this is very important because it is the only way you will be in the middle of the platform by the end of the helm. You have to be in the middle because the static shock is next and because of the damage it does, if you aren't in the middle with the other 5 people of your group, chances are they will all die from the static. For the static shock, you must use cooldowns: Smoke bombs, Barriers, spirit links,... Death knight AMZ's are especially useful for this, if you have more than one death knight, you should spread them out on the different platforms. This concludes the first part of the transition. the next part is exactly the same except the timers are faster / slower. The changes a major as the order in which you should do things will change and the second part is harder. First of all, the overload will hit. Before going all packed on that person you have to wait for the chain lightning. ALWAYS wait for the chain to hit, then packed on the overloaded person. Again stuns and bumps + burst on the add as his damage is very high, especially when everyone is packed. As soon as the overload wave starts, people should go on their positions to get ready for the bouncing balls soak. The hard part part about the second rotation of the transition is this: you will have barely enough time to go from the bouncing ball soak to the middle of the platform to group up for the splitting aoe damage. You really have to stand in the bouncing balls voids as close as you can from the middle and as soon as they hit, you rush for the middle. If the helm wasn't managed correctly (read the above) , the helmed person will not be in the middle of the platform and you will have deaths. Again, using cooldowns to manage the split aoe is important.

    A few more tips:
-AMZ's as other cooldowns have a short latency to activate before you enter the zone. Make sure your players are quick enough to get together for the split damage as the cooldowns are mandatory to survive without absorbs.
-People should ALWAYS hit their healthstones if they have to split a static shock on their platform, just after they soaked the bouncing balls. The exact procedure is: rush the middle while using healthstones and then get your cooldowns off as soon as you are in the middle.
    - We found it easier when people who got eh static shock said what they did with is when they get it. We also used colors for each platform. Typical announces were: "Diamond all packed for static"(class without immune or taking the static twice in a transition) or "Square i'm taking this solo" (class with immune).
-Helm should always take the tp first then run against it, otherwise you won't be in the middle of the platform (we seriously wiped 20 times on this) This is crucial !
-Mages can blink when they are affected by the overload to move the eye of the cyclone away, rogues can shadowstep. If a person is placed between two platforms they should DEFINITELY to this because otherwise this makes the rest of the phase almost impossible.
-There is always enough time to get in the middle of the overload, getting stunned mostly results in a platform wipe afterwards (i'm serious about this) as the extra damage will cause deaths which will cause static wipes.

About the bouncing balls. Soaking the bouncing balls without having any add spawn is important, very important. If an add spawns, no-one should hit him before a tank has the aggro on it. The adds will kill any dps who tries to tank them. Just let the tanks handle them. We found the following rules to help us for complete soaking:
-Healers choose a zone and stop moving from it, if two players are in a bouncing zone, the non-healer player should ALWAYS move.
-Rogues always move first if two people are packed in the same bouncing zone.
-If two bouncing zones overlap, people should try to be in both (meaning in the spot where they overlap). This has to be respected all the time
-People with the helm cannot soak as it will mostly result in a death (if they have no 30% + cd)
-Without cooldowns, you cannot soak two bouncings at the same time.
-If a ball is not soaked, you should first pack for the static, then go soak the ball.

This pretty much sums up all we have learned when pulling the boss, i'll add some more about phase 3 later on. Good luck on Lei shen, this boss is a true Nightmare !

Well we are currently progressing on this fight aswell, but I can give some input on what we have experienced to be working so far.

Put people that cant solo soak with priests(for barrier) or have more people on that platform.

All except rogues and tanks need a CD if they are gonna soak 2 Bouncing bolts at the same time.

Stay spread, but close to the pillars on each platform so the stun ring doesnt hit other groups. Place people with Great movement abilitys closer to the pillar.

We also made macros for every person that can solo soak that say something along the lines of: "Can Solo soak (what pillar you are on)". This is to minimize the spam on TS.

The best symbiosis target for druids is Hunters. Druids get detterence(can solo soak) and hunters get a sprint(makes Helm of command easier).

There will be atleast 6 people on each pillar in first transition. Everyone should cover a quadrant for the Bouncing bolt with 1 player beeing a step incase someone is Helmed during the bouncing bolts.

Is this encounter possible with 1 DK?

Define possible. You will have countless RNG-wipes to balls oneshotting people with their charges before a kill, and with the new item level gear etc, you're better off taking an alt along for a clear or two of 11/13 heroic and just use the alt for lei shen. But yes, it is possible.

Looking at your setup, here's the thing we did that worked extremely well for us:
Stack all the people who CAN'T immunity on the same platform. Have people who can filling the other platforms 100%.
This way, only one out of 4 platforms will have to learn to deal with the static shock - and they will ALWAYS have to do it, meaning they'll quickly learn. The other 3 just coasts by on immunities (the chances that a person will get two in a row is very, very, VERY small, and in that case he either just goes and dies and gets ressed, or we blow raid CD's and have them stack up).

the people who can't soak in your current setup is:
    Macceswe.
    Crocoduck.
    Makeup.
    Incatime.
    Ignorius.
    Caroline.

Theoretically, all 4 warlocks can solo soak in the first transistion by popping all their cds, but will need slightly heavy healing afterwards due to the nature of Dark Bargain. In the second transistion, they must be stacked to soak (and in P2.5, you have the deactivated platform joining another platform to put 13 players on one, so it's not an issue).

You'd do best in getting rid of one healer (as the fight really isn't healing intensive at all - if it's really a struggle, take the shadowpriest and have him time his halo for healing over DPS), either the shaman or a priest.
You've then got 3 healers that can't solo soak, meaning you'll either need to have some emergency-protocol set up for that one healer, or just get a pally/druid/mistweaver instead of one of the remaining priests/shamans.
