    Is Guldan alive?

I was questing in shadowmoon valley on my shaman to complete my Loremaster acheivement and found Guldan, kneeling on top of a summoning circle on the Altar of Damnation.

    He says,"

Be silent! The shattering is soon to come! Bear witness to the undeniable power to our dark master!"

I assume the dark master is Kil'jaeden.

He's not really there, it's just a image.

That, and you can actually obtain his skull as a item.

Nope, died a while ago. He was looking for the Tomb of Sargeras, which he found, and went dungeon delving. He was seeking some crazy lost power, but it lead to his demise. His thoughts and memories were imbued into his skull, as well as runes he put about his travels.

It didn't sink. The Island is still there as far as the last person seen it but I wonder if it survived the Cataclysm.

Uh no. Illidan literally took his skull to supplement his powers. Imagine that guy with no skull. Gross.

Gul'dan is dead, you can even get his skull as a trinket from Illidan.

Illidan literally took the Skull of Gul'dan and used it to boost his power. It was a WC3 mission.

Gul'dan died, people used his skull as a magical artifact (and possibly a drinking cup), and it eventually ended up in Illidan's possession, where he then absorbed its power. It then drops on his loot table if you defeat him.

Also, that skull in the BC cinematic? That's Gul'dan's.

It's possible that part of the tomb is still intact. Would make an awesome raid.

its very interesting that Guldan is half shaman half warlock..

And my favourite classes are both of those.

All the original Orc warlocks started as shaman. When the Burning Legion found the Orcs, they corrupted the Orc's bond with the elements and their ancestors, and most of the shaman were converted into warlocks.

Thats all orc warlocks born on draenor (read- adult orc warlocks).

He's most definitely dead in the physical sense. Who knows if Sargaras kept his soul to toy with, the legion has that kind of power. Just look at what happened to Ner'zhul.
The generalist looks outward; he looks for living principles, knowing full well that such principles change, that they develop. It is to the characteristics of change itself that the mentat-generalist must look. There can be no permanent catalogue of such change, no handbook or manual. You must look at it with as few preconceptions as possible, asking yourself, "Now what is this thing doing?" -Children of Dune
