So that companies like Dell can sell new AMD products even if there aren't any actually new AMD products.

Yes, it's there to fool customers who doesn't know about it, but the pricing hasn't changed either.

OEMs want to have their new line of computers look newer than the old one even if they have the same specs.

Thats pretty sad. Very disappointed with their lack of transparency. Love it how under Single-Card options it lists the 8950 as 'crossfire'

Nobody knows, but it doesn't make any sense to release 8000 series after the name has been already used.

For "real 8000 series" read: "whatever they call the Volcanic Islands graphics cards".

They are intended to be the competition to nVidia's new GTX 700 series.

Nobody knows. But Nvidia did really big performance boost with 700 series so it'll require a lot from AMD to put out something better.

Is anything known about the 7 series other than the 780 atm?

  16. #16
From what I heard, the 780 is a Titan with certain workstation functions stripped out, the 770 is basically a 680, the 760 is a 670 and so on.

Then why would anybody wait for a 770? Why mot just buy a current 680? im sure theres
more to it than that! if the 780 is a titan then will there be a 790 or is the Titan like the 790

Because the 770 is going for the same price as a 670, which is 100 bucks cheaper than any 680?

Has it been confirmed that the GTX 770 is going for approx $420?

The 780 is $650 and the 680 is approx 500$

I wouldnt assume that just yet..... With Nvidias trackrecord of pricing stuff quite high.
