So them spying on me doesn't bother me as long as they don't abuse the information.
Well that's the real issue. What makes you think they won't abuse the information? If they can somehow make money from it, or get something out of it, recent history has shown how much human rights or morals will get in the way of making a gain from it. I'm personally pretty certain that they will abuse that information without a second thought if the chance to make a gain from that information presents itself.

I don't care. There is something that people forget:

    a) Your privacy is not in play:
Because you are none, just a pixel more on the screen, a grain of sand in the desert.. call it as you wish.

    b) The goal of this is to create profiles. All the information is collected by computers and used to make money out of it, nothing else.

    And the most important:

    c) They'll never know what I don't want them to know about me. In fact, not even a hacked getting into my computer at 100% control would have a clue of who I really am. Not everything is what it looks like and I don't mean it in a bad way.

However, Of course they are violating the constitution, but not only yours, every single constitution in the world. But since they are the ones doing so, we can't stop them.

I would say that, yes PRISM bothers me. Mostly because of the potential repercussions, such as a futuristic sci-fi dystopia (like 1984).

But to cheer up in this situation, I tell myself this: It's still better than Sharia law!

One got through the net. Things get missed. It's not perfect, there is no perfect system but it's definitely better than no system at all. I don't know how reporting of these things works over the pond but over here, foiled ones caught before anything even begins get reported regularly. One gets through the net, in the grand scheme of things you just have to say big deal. People died but far fewer than if many attacks had happened more regularly over time.

And how do you propose that they catch these people if not going through the lot? They don't read them all, you'd kill yourself after a day all the inane shit. What the British ones do and it wouldn't surprise me for PRISM to do the same is that it scans for keywords and then regularity of them, or known phrases, and those will get highlighted and then looked at. They have the access to read your stuff but I can guarantee you they don't read 99.999% of it simply due to sheer volume and how pointless it'd be.

Personally I think it's wrong that they do it to people that aren't living in their country but I don't see it as that big of a problem. It's bad but... so is pissing against the wall of a building on a drunken night out.

well what a suprise, i turns out they are infact also spying in the US.

All right, gentleperchildren, let's review. The year is 2024 - that's two-zero-two-four, as in the 21st Century's perfect vision - and I am sorry to say the world has become a pussy-whipped, Brady Bunch version of itself, run by a bunch of still-masked clots ridden infertile senile sissies who want the Last Ukrainian to die so they can get on with the War on China, with some middle-eastern genocide on the side

    Hahaha, what a joke
(or did you believe that? ;-))
The verizon debacle shows that it is a blatant lie.

The world as depicted in 1984 and V for Vendetta exists, it is now.

Ofcourse their own subjects are the first they spy on. The rest of the world comes after that. "you" are in a better position to attack your own govt.

Never thought of that. They get it spoonfed! Everything in 10 letters or less. I guess the Germans are the antithesis to the Americans then.

Bullshit. This program hasn't stopped anything that wasn't stopped via competent policework.

So, it is not okay to spy on American citizens but everyone else in the world is fair game?

Okay then. I hope they enjoy homoerotic images as much as I do.

Privacy is a rather large form of security.

Asking what people want between the two, is simply a loaded question. What are they securing the US Citizens from? Terrorist attacks? Well, they had fair warning about the biggest terrorist attack (9/11) and didn't do anything about it.

I mean, I believe your comment is borderline sarcastic, as no one could really believe you can have one or the other, but not both. I just hope that this ability isn't going to be abused, but we all know deep down that it will be.

This made me chuckle a little. To late to what? explain to my parents about the shifty sites I once visited? That one nasty comment I posted to a guy I didn't like? Jail time incoming.

I could bring up that this goes against everything America stood for at one time, but then again you probably have no idea what America is supposed to stand for.

It's the fourth amendment, why don't you open the constitution and read it before making inane statements? It's obvious that your knowledge of the United States, its history and its founding documents is remedial at best.

I'm also probably giving you too much credit.

This is fucking scary. Im not sure if our generation here is either to naive or complacent to understand the recent move in washington, but it is scary. This last decade in particular has given us the NDAA, surveilance drones on american soil, many broad spectrum bills which have had the room for massive and egregious misuse (IE sopa, Cispa) and a ever growing infringement on our right to bear arms never mind the patriot act. If you know anything about history, then you should recognize why this is scary. There is absolutely no need for PRISM, none whatsoever and this particular program should be shut down immediately. You're on an MMO website forum, the majority of posters here are easily frightened and docile. They want the government to take care of them so they can stay in their comfort zones. It's sad, but that's reality.

You ( democrats ) wanted more government control. Well, rest assured that is exactly what you are getting!

Really though. If it's for national security and breaking the minds of future terrorism, by all means...
