Seems like only 6 years ago we were touting people for their whistleblowing (for much less significant things) like they were heroes. Now it's become something criminal...

    How's that work exactly?
The most successful tyranny is not the one that uses force to assure uniformity but the one that removes the awareness of other possibilities.

So have fun giving up privacy so that your government can stop people from killing you that they pissed off in the first place. If that gives you a sense of patriotic pride then good for you.
What you're saying isn't radical at all. Blowback is very real, and is one of the main reasons these terrorists exist. Their behavior is reprehensible and never justified, but they win when our government does these sorts of things to us.

    a whistleblower exposes something illegal

PRISM is allowed by law, has judicial oversight, and has supreme court precedent

he leaked classified material because he had a moral objection

Terrorism occurs due to military superiority imo.

When people are warred upon and have no prayer of victory they turn to doing things that the winning side doesn't have to.

Whistleblowers are not limited to releasing information concerning illegal activities. A whistleblower is anyone who releases information concerning abuses of power, dishonest activity, or information that serves the public interest.

If Prizm is half as pervasive and invasive as it seems there is no way it's legal.

Lawyering something might find a niche to call it legal, but we all know it's not.

I'm not being paranoid. I'm being vigilant. I would be paranoid if I had no reason to be concerned.

That explains the tactics, not the ideology or cause. And yes, military superiority contributes to blowback.

Then tone down the Tyranny trump card. Seriously, I get what you're trying to prove but to say this guy wasn't foolish IMO is well just as foolish. Don't get me wrong, I don't like being spied on either and all that jazz. I find it a waste to. Doesn't mean we should suddenly decide the government is our evil enemy and the end is nigh. You seem to be coming off that way more and more. Just sayin.

Meh, I bet there are advertising/marketing agencies who have more information about my phone activity than the government. I don't see how people are all of a sudden up in arms when this information has existed with a price tag for years.

Seeing how its legal with judicial oversight its can't be an abuse of power, it's only dishonest in that it's secret, and it's not a direct threat to public interest

Because it fits in nicely with the Alex Jones type black helicopter anti gov conspiracy theory's that are in vogue now. Charge of the Knights in Tin Foil. It's just entertainment atm.

Truthiness is a quality characterizing a "truth" that a person making an argument or assertion claims to know intuitively "from the gut" or because it "feels right" without regard to evidence, logic, intellectual examination, or facts.

    This is you.

I hope you read more than just the highlighted spots. It says telephone metadata does not include the name, address or financial information of subscribers. So they have a list of what number calls what number, and not even names attached to them.
