THat post should be copied and pasted into peoples minds. It's valid for so many scenarios.
I made a review:
the difference trying to maximize avoidance and dps is that talking about dps we have to consider the glyph of hold line.
without it the best solution is to maximize avoidance: the swing reduction of the parry is sightly worse than a crit increase, if i crit 1 more shield slam i make 600k more dmg and 1 more revenge crit is 300k more dmg, etc!
with that glyph, it's sure that parry is better, but the new question is how much? 3-4-5-10-20 % ? i'll investigate to take the exact value in this week
Hm.... what is better for the shredders on siegecrafter heroic?
DR + SB (obviously precasting SB so it lands shortly after the shredder has landed again) or DR + BB?
In terms of using Shield Barrier vs. Shield block, I read somewhere recently that when using an avoidance based build it is typically better to focus on shield barrier and use excess rage in shield block. Is this theory correct? Thanks in advance.
If a single big hit is incoming, be it physical or magic; I use shield barrier. If a steady intake of blockable damage is incoming then I use shield block. At this state in the game I am swimming in rage so I tend to use as many shield blocks as the cooldown allows. And use shield barrier to prevent myself from capping. Unless there is a big hit incoming then I want a full barrier for that obviously.
What I aim for is to have as much shield block uptime as possibly to benefit the most of the Heavy Repercussions glyph. Not only do I aim for a high uptime I also pay attention to cooldown of sheild block + Shield Slam to make sure that when I use Shield Slam it will benefit from the glyph.
Basicly what you want to do as a tank is to smooth out the damage intake. With high levels of avoidance its really hard to predict any kind of dmg intake except for magic dots and big magic hits. As an example you could theoretically pop a full 60 rage barrier and see yourself dodge/parry several attacsk in a row and competely see it go to waste. A shield block would have been more useful in that case due to some extra damage from shield slam even though it didnt really block anything.
Therefor I personally tend to use alot more Shield blocks than Shield barriers.
guys, is it worth to use dps back and gem?
10m normal raiding atm 562 ilvl
Speaking of siegecrafter heroic, i noticed something strange, consistently the 3rd application of electrostatic doesn't seem todo any damage at all.
Any ideas why ?
Even tried no cd's, no barrier. Still no dmg.
Not really that good with analyzing logs but it kills me not knowing whats up with that 3rd stack.
I must admit I've had similar happen to me... I didn't check the absorbs at the time but I've been occasionally getting full hits without the bigwigs warning noise goin goff to indicate it applied but having my debuff refreshed and apparently no damage being taken
Yeh, and it was freakishly consistent for over 60 pulls, the last hour today i didnt even bother with cd's or barrier for it.
Didn't check with my OT but i started tanking it was always the 3rd stack.
All the others did their intended damage far as i could tell.

Foxlit just released an addon that has quite amazing potential.
Just watch the video. Basically you can create a conditional one-button macro with the help of this addon. Mind blown.Purrmetheus is an addon that can dynamically choose which ability to perform when you click an action button.
This will most definitely be broken as blizzard truly hates these sorts of addons :P I don't know how many ancient players there are out there but in vanilla there used to be an addon called AutoRogue that would basically have your entire rotation bound to sinister strike and conditionally reapply poisons / slice and dice based on buffs
Don't get used to using this addon because it WILL be intentionally broken by blizzard, mark my words :P
Hello fellow warrior tanks. Started playing Prot Warrior for the first time ever like two weeks ago when our guild's OT had to take absent from raiding.
I have few questions for you, I am atm going for full avoidance build. We are 12/14 norm SoO and will be starting HC SoO next week. So how much HP should I have, my HP is shit atm because of shitty gear + pure avoidance. Blackfuse wasnt nice even in normal with this iLvL Should I gem STAM because my HP pool is so low.
Also would you suggest Avoidance or mastery/crit for HC 10 SoO ? I personally like more going pure avoidance in conjunction with SBar.
With Garrosh going down this week (should've been last :/ ) I'm joining a new guild on my prot warrior alt to occupy my time. They're currently 11/14H (10) with siegecrafter just about to go down. I was looking to hear if you had any tips for these bosses from a warrior pov. Such as certain glyphs that feels like a must for certain fights. I'm well aware of all the mechanichs as I tank on the main but class-specifics would be nice.
Thanks in advance!
