Thanks to EF and Hammer, palprot probably brings more raid utility (hps) than a wartank.
As far as tanking is concerned, warprot are probably better thanks to a higher dps and because absorb>heal.

so i recently got for my tank warrior alt the ordos chest: http://www.wowhead.com/item=105769
I am at around 548 ilvl (big minus are my trinkets, both 496)

Now i am thinking, should i just put pure avoidance gems in there and ignoring the 180 dodge bonus? if i recall correctly i have too much hit now anyway, so it would be for example 160 dodge and 120 stamina gems. which would leave me with less avoidance than putting in 320parry gems for example.

I'd go for the bonus. Nothing wrong with more health.

My rule of thumb is to take all bonuses except strenght ones. As the str is rather useless in normal/heroic raiding.

So I'm curious which is the best neck to use, currently using http://www.wowhead.com/item=105264 and wondering if http://www.wowhead.com/item=105373 is better

Just decided to get my Arms/Fury Warrior a tank spec and now I'm looking for a quick look over all the abilities and when / how to use them - is there any good site for that? Thanks in advance.

This guide will go over the rotation at least: http://www.tankspot.com/showthread.p...-Warrior-Guide

You may or may not want their gearing strategy in favor of the one in the OP of this thread, though.

Since you're currently stacking mastery, use the mastery one. Were you to switch to an avoidance/riposte build, use the parry one. Not sure why you even need to ask.

Quick introduction of me here says I´m a "fairly" experienced raider, haven´t even been close to clearing heroics during MoP for the appropriate tier. Pre-MoP i was abit more serious and usually did. Back in TBC i raided very seriously. After a recent reroll i found some new joy in figuring out how to play this game "really good".

So after pretty much a reset of our guild I managed to convince the rest that I should swap main and go tank on a warrior, going from warlock dps.

    Logs and armory:

http://worldoflogs.com/guilds/293745/ Just check last weeks logs for a full normal clear.

    http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/characte...luras/advanced

I think I have the basics down pretty good but if you have any pointers for improvement I´d definately appreciate it. I know I lack in CD usage but still pretty new to tanking and working on getting it down. Beyond that what I´m asking for is tips (and hopefully a discussion) about and all the tips and trix on the SoO bosses that I missed while dpsing. I´m also guessing few here knows of all of them so hopefully it won´t be boring for you longtimers. Both survival and damage oriented tips are appreciated!

Like I said I´m pretty new at tanking but this is what i got so far.

Immerseus not really anything, mocking banner for adds on hc.
Norushen TC at small adds on norushen a pretty decent DPS increase, spell reflect for trial is kind of a nobrainer.
Charge/jump like a maniac makes all mines on juggernaut pretty simple.
Unless any other important use for it, SW and stand in annihilate on Garrosh is pretty decent vengeance.

Most/all of these have been mentioned earlier in the thread but I´m fairly sure i missed some nice things we can do.

    There's so much to say...

Protectors: if you're tanking He, place him near Sun, get the pummel glyph, interrupt everything you can, cleave both ==> profit.
Spell reflect works for the mob on Rook's phase who cast Defile Ground iirc. Vigilance.
Norushen: Mass Spell Reflect, you can then reflect all the lethal spell you must otherwise interrupt (don't remember the name) in the trial and kill the add easily. Works on the small adds that spawn regularly too.
Galakras: you can spell reflect fire arrows. Charge big mobs to interrupt their casts on pnjs if your dps are lazy. Disarm everything. Vigilance.
Juggernaut: Spell reflect on spikes (!). use charge, Intervene, HL once mid air when taking mines. Vigilance.
Shams: Spell reflect the lady, disarm works on both. Barrier, barrier, barrier. You can help your dps by snaring small adds with Piercing Howl.
    Thok: disarm the jailer.

I can't speak for next bosses as I didn't tried them yet with my war alt.

Vigilance is not the correct choice for the majority of fights. Malkorok is the only fight where I choose it over Safeguard. Safeguard is amazing when used proactively.

I normally use my Brewmaster monk, and when it comes to Protectors I generally just tank He and his mark. I know that when I've done it on my 558 warrior, I get pooped on from He afterwards. Does anyone else do it this way, or do you guys generally just put them on hunters/rogues/spriests?

for 10man yeah - done it as both pally and warrior getting the mark and contiuing with he afterwards. but for the 25man kills I've done Idon't think we ever send it to a tank because so many rogues/pallies/warlocks.

You should never tank the mark as it reduces your armor by alot, just have cheese classes tank it like dispersion feint etc.

Some 10 mans dont have that luxury.

You can still heal the tank if he has the debuff it's just a LOT more spike damage. We accidentally did it yesterday but we might just keep doing it because we outgear it. That way nobody will lose DPS by having to use defensive cooldowns which don't allow them to keep DPSing (eg shadow and dispersion)

If you are progressing don't put the mark on your tanks.

  16. #1696
It's actually not bad to put on a Monk tank, because of the way their AM works. The mark will still poop on you though, but because of the armor reduction I wasn't able to do it on the warrior due to them needed armor more than a monk. Also, we're 25.

Thank's for the tips! Totally missed disarm and will start using it. Safeguard is what I usually stick with aswell although timing should be improved.

Another question is how ambitious you guys are with execute usage? Make it on a somewhat hard hitting boss so survivability still matters. Only tanked norushen on hc and there it was pretty safe to just spam it and try to use up CDs and the externals you have. Is there a "best" way in general? Ignore block and just try to have some rage for a barrier if/when you dip? Keep block up and burn excess rage with it?

Did some more reading of the thread and realized that it might be more about your healers then a question of the best way to do it, but hey, always fun to get some perspective on what other people do.

Use a cooldown or ask for externals and burn every last point of rage into it while bloodbath/reck/skull are up. When they are not, burn rage as needed. If a boss is capable of one shotting you, don't spend rage on execute, if not, spend until your health starts to fall behind. You should have time to switch to barriers.

It's more a do and feel thing, truth be told. Your gear, your healers and your avoidance luck makes it change it somewhat given the same boss.

  19. #1699
I'm pretty conservative when it comes to giving up defensive for an offensive boost so I'm probably the wrong person to ask but I always make sure I have no chabce of dying when I am executing.

Nothing pisses me off more then dying and if it's because of something I could have prevented then it will literally ruin my night.
