500$ gift from work what to do?

    Long story short...

-Getting 500$ (Canadian) before taxes to get myself a gift from work has to be 500 or less but that tax can exceed the 500
-Decided to get a new computer
-planning on buying the video card separate from everything else

SO here is my little conflict, I wanted to get parts to build my own, but the 500$ has to be 1 thing, I cant give them a list of parts.

So I'm looking for a premade computer for 500$ that has pretty much all I need without a videocard.

I was thinking this and throwing in something like a Radeon HD 7870 XT

How do u think that set up would work? Keep in mind I game like 2 times a week and only games like LoL and SC2.

why not get an insane GPU/CPU instead with that giftcard? or would that exceed the total budget?

edit; don't go for that pre-built, terrible CPU and likely not enough wattage on the PSU to upgrade it with a proper GPU.

It doesnt even have a GPU, so no money wasted. They CPU is better.
You might have to also buy a new psu, just to be safe with the 7870XT.

Upgrading the PSU would not be a problem

i'd still say go self build all the way. (also would it be possible to use the giftcard on a combo? something like a ram/mobo/cpu package deal?)

you recommend any of these? 4 GB ram sounds low to me but I could be wrong?

that would suit you much better.
ram is dirt cheap anyway toss in another stick if you want to but for gaming 4gb is still plenty.

depends do you want to overclock?
it is way better compared to both pre-builts , this bundle has a just released haswell CPU which is very strong for games like wow. (whereas one of the pre-builts had an AMD cpu whilst not bad they aren't recommended for gaming)
i'll check the site for a best all-round bundle.

tbh get this one; http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...9485&CatId=333 and toss in a gpu like a 7870 XT or better if you could fit it in the budget.
