5.4 - Which heirloom enchant mats to invest in?

As soon as I saw the 5.4 PTR notes regarding enchanting heirloom items, I bought up all the maelstrom crystals, heavenly shards (which maelstrom crystals can shatter into,) and greater celestial essences on my server. I anticipate churning out power torrents and landslides come 5.4.

Was this a good decision? Are there better enchants/mats to go after? Discuss.

I'm still not clear on this whole thing. For example, will we be able to put 2x Dancing Steel on a pair of Rogue heirloom daggers?

    Yes, any enchants

Yes, although my decision to go after cata mats is because mop mats will still understandably be in demand in 5.4. Heirloom item's can't scale past 85; so I figure people would want to pick up cata enchants.

Pandaland Enchants are full-fledged for lv85 people already. And judging from past Decision like Pandaland-only Blacksmithing, Mining, and Herbalism I bet my black ass that should Blizzard make somethign with Enchants in this Expansion, it will be with Pandaland Mats.

buy every MoP mat in the AH as enchants will scale down, but not up (maybe for the first time in months, JC rings can be disenchanted for profit and not for loss)

probably haste/crit enchants will sell a lot (some level will surely screw up the rating gain, with low/mid level twinks running around on with 100% crit)

The products of the catch-up skill mechanisms are usually vendor trash though.

This is probably what I'll do for non-weapon enchants. There's still going be high demand for dancing steel/river's song; so I think people will look for the next best cheapest alternative, which is cata enchants.

This seems like a mildly profitable ploy. Shame my server is pretty dead when it comes to stuff like this. =/

I made a few heirloom enchants when I was still trying to get every penny out of the market, but they didn't sell well. I didn't lose gold on my investment when I tried it, but I did have 4 or 5 expensive enchnats left over that just wouldn't sell, even though they were good ones.

So, I'm not going to get burned on this thing, but if you know your server has a decent market for this stuff and you can get the mats for cheap, then I'd go ahead and try it.

since we dont know anything about the scaling, my bet would be mop for anything but weapons. for weapons ild stock up some heavenly shards/maelstrom crystals as they are very cheap currently and i can imagine, that ap and int are better than windsong. besides that gathering some tbc mats for executioner seems also very reasdonable as it looks badass and bc mats are rather cheap on most realms.

Wrath of the Lich King for 80 heirlooms and Cataclysm for 85, at the worst case I think.

dont know much about your realms prizes but i really doubt that mop enchants are way cheaper/scale better than mop enchants.

I'm of the opinion that a Landslide or Berseker at level 10 will be about as powerful as a Dancing Steel at level 10, and the latter two are ridiculously solo farmable.

ye, thats why i suggested cata weapon enchnats as the exception from the mop list as well. wotlk weapon enchants obv might sell as well if you can get it cheaper than cata ones and find enough players looking for it since the lvl 80 market would be even more limited than the 85.

I am going for Mongoose enchant for my rogue daggers and shamman/Monk maces. The reason is that Mongoose is so damn cool looking and leveling is so easy, you wouldn't note the difference even if you didn't have enchant at all...
The trick of selling a PvP-MMO is creating the illusion among gankers that they are respectable fighters while protecting them from respectable fights, as their less skilled half would be massacred and quit instead of “HTFU” as they claim.

Ok so unless someone can link to an official post for this... I'm confused.

Any enchant on any Heirloom and they scale now?

I'm beting on mangoose too. The awesome spell effect will play big on alts ^^
An OP enchant is an OP enchant, you don't really care when you are leveling. But if you can level with an OP & gorgeous one ? Grab the gold.

As for a spellcaster weapon enchant, I guess 30 spellpower I am using now might still be the strongest enchant out there until lvl 30 (the wrath equialvent is 81 spellpower at lvl 80, 40 spellpower is available at lvl 35), as it will probably not get scaled down (since it already doesnt require a item level), but you never know. Nevertheless, if this stays like this, a base stat increase is worth so much more then all the procs at low level. Getting from 1-20 is the annoying part.

Since weapons only go to 80 or 85 (no real need to upgrade your weapon, as they drop by the dozen in Cata), I guess wrath and cata enchants are the way to go. My guess is that it Power Torrent will be just as powerfull as Jade Spirit, perhaps even stronger, not sure about the intellect per second. Damage enchants like Avalanche, Elemental Force and Icebraker might proof to be the strongest ones out there.

Levelingwise, I would never go for a stat proc, as 50% of the uptime (at least), your enemies are already dead. A damage proc never gets wasted (ah well, almost never), so, best weap enchants leveling and PvP wise, I would go for base stats or damage procs. Only time will tell what scales best.
