What's with all those "cute" weapon designs and colors?

    With Artworks like these:

I expect to be a cool, dangerous guy with mean weapons. Someone that strikes fear in the hearts of his enemys when they spot him.
But why do we get designs like that these days?

    Reminds me of

Give me more black/grey/silver/gold/dark red/dark blue
And make weapons look like weapons not like kids toys or Hello Kitty Pink edition.

Because they fit the style of the expansion? Maybe one day they'll add a way for people to change the way weapons look by giving it the look of one of the other 100s of models available. Until then I guess you're screwed.

I see what you did there.

Dark coloring makes it difficult to see the details of a weapon's model.

Imo, weapons look nice. Grey colors and dark palette don't really fit artstyle of WoW, which is, thankfully, based on more vivid colors and on variety of shapes.

    Wow, you're cool.

    Stop complaining and use transmog.

Is that artwork tied to Worgen or are you mix-matching? I mean...the weapons of TBC weren't really my cup of tea...you know, the ones that belonged to TK, the Draenei and Shattrath..this crystally stuff

Even the stuff in ICC or BT was often not "dark"

Plus there are plenty of current "dark" weapons. I don't get the point of this thread at all.

Guns have looked ridiculous and silly for a while, nothing new about that.

WTF is that third weapon though, dagger? Off-hand?

I think you are looking more at the whole picture itself than the weapons. We already have weapons like that, especially the knives the worgen have.

Why aren't you shitting yourself over the weapons from Burning Crusade. Half that shit was magenta.

    And I loved it.

You've been cherry-picking bad examples. The current models aren't "cute" or "pink", though they are definitely more ornate than usual. That's part of the theme - look at all the Asian-inspired designs and you can easily see where it comes from. Given WoW's more "comic-y" style in general, I don't think their designs are particularly "cute". They aren't very good, lately, but for different reasons. It's no surprise many transmog sets come from past eras, especially weapons.

..and I actually like the look of the last two in the picture. Axe with eyeballs...we also had that back in AQ, right?

The best description I've seen of BC gear was that someone chugged 10 colors of paint and puked it up everywhere.

Third weapon looks like a crossbow to me, just at an odd angle (as if trying to shoot the bottom left corner of the image).
