    new 27-inch monitor

Hello, i'm looking for a new 27-inch 1080p monitor. I will use it for gaming and surfing the net mainly.

I've got my eyes on the asus MX279H

budget: just point me a good price/perfomance 27 inch monitor.

    Also i don't want a 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 monitor.

Can I ask why not? 27" can look meh to some people at 1080.

I guess it depends how you look at it but there really isn't many good price/performance 27" not 1440p or 1600p. We can list some 27" and then you can check them out and read reviews.

    specify budget for gpu?
    in general i'd say this works;
    ultra settings + 1080 < high settings + 1440p
the higher resolution adds allot in image quality.

    Thanks for the answers.
If i choose a 1440p, I should get the Asus PB278Q(450€~) or Dell U2713HM(500€~) or HP ZR2740w(600~)€? The others 1440p cost way too much.

I would say the Asus or the Dell... read the reviews.

Dell U2713HM: Tftcentral review || Anandtech review

Asus PB278Q: Anandtech review || Tftcentral review

There is of course always the cheaper 24" ones at 1080p

    Dell U2412M
    Asus PA248Q

    Edit:

There is also Korean 1440p IPS panels for around $350-400 at Ebay but they're imported so there is some risk associated with it.

Good read up on those here and here

Notarget: Thanks for the info on the Dell and Asus monitors. I'm eyeballing the Dell U2713HM, but it's ridiculously expensive here in Australia ($800).

Have you had any personal experience with the Korean IPS panels, that are worth sharing?

Iv got an Achieva Shimian, (korean ips 1440). I have been nothing but happy with it, performs as expected.
Only thing to note about this very model at least is that the screen is glossy. Colors are damn good but it reflects quite alot of light

    That's why God invented blinders

But in all honesty, thanks for the heads up. I know that many people are put off by glossy screens. I'm checking it out now on Ebay and I can get it with free shipping from Korea. Think I have to pull the trigger here

Only small con i have about monitor is that the stand is kinda weak, so if you touch monitor it wiggles pretty bad.
Everything else has been perfect with this my screen, insane quality compared my old tn screen.

Also before i ordered this monitor i was worrying if 27" screen would be too big, but its not really...
You get use to 27" very fast
