One That Didn't Get Away achievement question

In regards to this achievement i was wondering if you actually have to fish from the pools themselves in Elwynn forest or if you can just randomly cast in the lakes.

I couldnt find any specific info on where people actually FISHED just the location in which they were fishing so its getting a bit annoying.

The question is: do you have to fish from pools to get one of those rare fish if you are fishing in Elwyn forest.

I have no idea about the fish in Elwynn Forest but Dark Herring can be caught in open water and pools.

i believe the 15 pound mudfish is the one that can be caught in elwynn, among other locations too.

Afaik you do not have to fish in a pool for that one either.

Don't think you need to fish from pools in Elweyn for the 15 Pounds Mudsnapper.
i'm at 11.200+- casts atm and still only need 1 that didn't get away for salty :s
i switch between the 15 pound mudsnapper & dark herring to farm.. but rng is sucky..

The rares are generally from open waters, so you just need to pick a place to chill at & keep going until one bites.
I've done that achieve on at least 4 characters (had the Salty title on 3 before 5.0 accountwide), and while it really is a real pain to do, you just gotta keep at it.
Helps to do them while doing other things -> on one char I got it while doing daily fishing quest from Org, caught in the rivers bordering Durotar & Barrens, on another char I got it on Darkmoon Island while fishing randomly at the pier for the quests there.

If you are going for salty, the Master Angler is next to impossible now with CRZ, so unless you want the 10 points from this achieve, you might wanna reconsider wasting hours on this, cause Master angler make this one seem like a vacation :P

I highly recommend going their, even if your Alliance. People on forums and I think it was wowhead stated it was the best place to try and after about 30 minutes(or even less) I caught mine.

Ive never really told anyone either after getting Salty where I caught mine, so keep it a secret when you get it will ya. ;P

Ironically, on one of my chars, I tried fishing in Stonebull Lake for ages, never got it, then headed to Teldrassil to fish in the lake there (annoying trip as horde) and.... ye. Got one in about 50 catches


But at least it's not as bad as when I tried to get the Ironjaw one.... Back when the (pvp) server was pretty active pre-cata, before you could roll characters on both factions, took 13k+ catches... >.<

Yeah Stonebull lake did it for me too, was fishing in the river just outside orgrimar for 4000-5000 catches, moved to stonebull lake and got the mudfish in 100-200 catches.
