Was just thinking that same thing, sure it could just be they're from a similar area or something lame like that... But the similarity is a little TOO much to be explained away. Maybe a younger brother?

ya i would say duncan was already close to his calling in DAO, another 10 years after that would make him dead i think.

Well duncans sole purpose was to die because the plot demanded it.

10 years is a bit too much, I give him a year maybe. He was already having the dreams and he was pretty well aged.

Here's a good one, Duncan vs Carver.

Sadly you are stuck with him if you are a mage.

Actually I kinda liked Carver's character. He was just a straight up prick and no matter how nice you were to him he was just an ass right back. And the best part was he acknowledged his dickness.

    They're both dicks.

Fuck the Warden's tenets dude, Duncan killed Jory. He was to be a father soon.

Yea but Duncan was atleast somewhat funny and he was actually pretty likable. Carver is literally the annoying little brother who thinks he knows everything.

    I dislike both.

I understand why Duncan had to do it. But he's still a dick.

I sometimes try and imagine DAO with Duncan replacing Alistair.

    Hmmmmmmm.

Good reason to not play a mage, makes more sense in certain parts of the game if Hawke is not a mage as well.

Carver didn't even exist in the plot. He's there if you roll a mage, and if you don't, your mother says one line about him towards the end.
Even his mother forgot he existed.

Sarcastic Pro-Templar Mage Hawke is fun.

There's also the fact that Hawke is practically an apostate allowed to run around freely in a city full of templars, well until a good bit into act 3 that is.

Sarcastic any stance/class Hawke is fun. It's simply the best Hawke.

It's even better while using blood magic. You never get called out on it, not even by your teammates who all seem to dislike bloodmagic apart from Merril.
It's the internet. You never know if people are either sarcastic or just bad.

I heard there's some great sarcastic dialogues if you're playing solo, never experienced them though.
    Her hall is called Eljudnir,
    her dish is Hunger,
    her knife is Famine,
    her slave is Lazy,
and Slothful is her woman servant.

Honestly I never got that notion, Duncan was always that nice father-like figure in my 7 Playthroughs.

Isn't the default canon Hawke a mage?

Side note; I hated female Hawkes voice at the start personally but actually grew to like it. Not a fan of the male one though.
