I was guessing late August/early September.

Ideally, I imagine they'd aim for, say, around August 20th or 27th.

    Probably August 20th

Sorry, you're right. I got mixed up between 5.0.4 and 5.0.5. I corrected the table. Point still stands, roughly 3 months per patch, give or take a couple weeks.

Unfortunately, software development efforts are not generally sped up by piling on more programmers -- particularly a few months before deployment. There is a big learning curve when switching to a new project and your productive people are now spending their time training new team members. Chances are that any programmers transferred off Titan are working on content that is quite a ways off, such as the next expansion.

No, not really. There hasn't been 4 months between a patch all expansion. 2-3 months is most likely right.

    September;
Trailer for 5.4 XX TITEL XX will be avaible at Gamecon 21-25 Aug.
5.4 will be prior two weeks after that.

So, the 11th of Sep. Is my guess

Every patch in the past: "They wouldn't release a patch right before a bank holiday weekend"
Every expansion in the past: "They wouldn't release the expansion so close to X major event"

I didn't know that a 1 minute silence means that a patch would have to be delayed an entire week.

It certainly is. Raid testing doesn't take that long, and the team that's balancing and fixing issues with those is a different one from those balancing classes or working on virtual realms. I don't recall them having any stress tests or prearranged schedules for any of the other features they've added in this expansion. Virtual realms won't be properly tested until it hits live anyway (simply because there's only 4-5 test realms, and the number of players on each isn't typical of what you'd get on live). Even though they'll probably enable the feature, it won't be realistically possible to test it until live. That said, I think it'll be around 3 months before release, which would put us firmly into September.

One thing you're forgetting; They've been working on the patch for many months already. The team that worked on 5.1 worked on 5.3, and the team that worked on 5.2 is working on 5.4. 5.2 was released at the start of March. They were working on at least 5.2 before MoP even released, and it's quite likely they were working on 5.4 around the time of release. It might just have been the concept stage at that point, but work has to start somewhere.

Remember, they also did away with minor patches this expansion. Sure, there's been hotfixes and VERY minor patches, but no 5.1.1, 5.1.2, 5.2.1, 5.2.2, 5.2.3, etc. patches. Evidently, this has gone some way to speeding up the release schedule.

One thing we have to be aware of is the next expansion. If 5.4 is the final patch, then the next expansion can't be too far behind. They're aiming for 18 months between expansions at the latest. That means approximately next March, with February being 6.0 release. This gives us 6 months of 5.3, which seems to be the perfect amount of time and very similar to what we've had for the rest of MoP. It also gives them plenty of time to do beta testing AFTER an announcement at Blizzcon.

So, my guess is on early-mid September as a release.

August 20th is 1 week before Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn releases. Personal opinions of Square's relaunch are irrelevant, Blizzard has a strong track record of releasing patches around time to pull the wind from competition sales, regardless of who it is.

That's the only reason I'm ball parking late August.

Early-mid September actually makes more sense.

5.4 in august, 5.5 november or december 6.0 in march or april

Every raid tier is 6 months (excluding final tiers before new expansions.)

5.2 came out March 7th. 5.4 will be out Early-Mid September.

Late August or early September seems to be the sweet spot. That would mean a 2.5 to 3 month PTR and would equal about 1 year from MoP launch, which is around the time that the last major patch of the expansions has tended to fall:

    Wrath - expansion live Nov. 13, 2008, patch 3.3 (ICC) live Dec. 8, 2009.
Cata - expansion live Dec. 7, 2010, patch 4.3 (Dragon Soul) live Nov. 29, 2011.

Probably late August / Early September. I assume they would want progress for top guilds to be complete by Blizzcon so they can actually go.

Absurd, the sooner 5.3 hit live, the longer their customers will have to farm T15 in wait of next expansion.

And one thing blizzard learnt from 10 months of Dragon Soul is that having a forever lasting tier is BAD.
5.3 In late july, early august would be a good timeframe. With the next Xpac announced @Blizzcon (november) with a release between january and april. It will be allready 6 month of last tier. Releasing it sooner wil drive everybody out before Xpac (or blizzard have some crazy bonus content after T15, sunwell style).

Liked your table, and hope you're right, since i actually enjoy ToT a lot.

    Think you mean 5.4.
Has blizzard stated that SoO will be the last raid in this expansion? I know people keep saying it, but has they said so?

2-3 I'd say is fine. That'd put us somewhere in August or September.

PTR is going to become longer and longer as we have longer raids and more difficulties. It may reach the point where PTR becomes a constant thing alongside live servers.

I'm shooting for September. I'd be shocked if they let it out before the end of summer. They know their numbers are usually down in summer months because people go on holidays and are off school. It's normally downtime for alot of players I find. My guess is second week of September.

Considering the fact that they didn't have to create a completely new set of artwork for the raid as big as throne of thunder, because we already know what orgrimmar looks like? Considering they don't have to create 13 boss models, because 7 of them are already featured ingame?

And taking into consideration that they cannot test VR on PTR, yes, it is a reasonable time frame.
