    DVI/VGA cable with VGA/DVI connector

I recently managed to fix one of my old monitors and annoyingly I only have one DVI cable at hand, however I do have a DVI to VGA cable (one end DVI the other end VGA) and a VGA to DVI adapter. So my question is would I essentially have a DVI cable if I were to attach the adapter to the vga end and plug both now DVI ends from my monitor to my pc?

No. That would not work. That's because DVI to VGA cable uses analog signal, and monitors take only digital through DVI.
