Stopped ready after jinrok. Melee's do not get focused lightning in normal or heroic. Rogues, DKs can completely bypass the ionization debuff by pre-immuning (but so can some ranged classes).
Blizzard has come a long way with melee. It used to be that guild don't want more than 2 melees (in 10 man) due to the fact that boss mechanics targetted all non-tank players and having more melee will be more annoying bc its more difficult for them to deal with spread mechanics and they tend to stack close to the tanks.
Most of the more annoying mechanics (ones where you have to move or wipe the raid) only target ranged now-a-days. The only downside to being a melee is tunneling the boss, as you have to consistently make sure you're positioned correctly. Ranged, not so much.
