In MMOs the Warden is typically a druid like class with close ties to nature. In Rift they specialize in HoTs similar to a WoW druid. In Dark Age of Camelot Wardens were a healing class with strong buffs with ties to nature that was also very tanky. Its pretty much in the same boat as the Bard. Both are great classes that are very fun to play and bring a lot to raids but they dont have a place in WoW.

That is a very good definition but you should know that this Warden is WOW's Warden type of class-same as in WC3 and here http://www.wowwiki.com/Warden

Most likely this. Shadowstep, cloak of shadows, shadow blades are all very "Warden-esque" abilities. They already gave a signature Sentinel ability to any hunter who selects glaive toss, much to my dismay so dissolving away racial-specific lore for mechanics is not out of the realm of possibility.
If it's not an elf, leave it on the shelf.

I've always wanted a Warden class (I do <3 Maiev). They'd need to be mail wearers though, and I'd also add fist weapons to what they can use.

Not a Plate user FIRST AND FOREMOST because we are already over saturated with Plate users. Arms Warrior, Fury Warrior, Ret Paladin, Frost DK, Unholy DK for dps, popular classes with a lot of people playing every spec of them.

Also 3 out of the 5 tanking classes are already Plate users. This would cause a serious gearing issue.

Currently there are only 2 Mail users. Hunters and Enhancement Shamans. Even leather users are sitting on 3 classes. Monk/Druid/Rogue.

Mail strikes a fair balance between Agility and Protection. Excels in neither, but fairly decent in both. The description of their defenses -

    Warden's Cloak
Specially constructed for the night elves' wardens, these green velvet cloaks bear a fringe of deadly, razor-sharp blades along the hem, resembling the wings of an owl. Wardens learn to shift and swing the cloak dramatically, presenting the blade fringes to anyone who might get too close. The cloak is both a defensive measure against sneak attacks and a potent weapon for the warden when surrounded by enemies. It also provides numerous knife blades for the warden to use with her slicing torrent ability-
from http://www.wowwiki.com/Warden doesn't really come off as a plate user.

Also somehow a Warden doesn't personally strikes me as a heavy plate wearer. In Warcraft 3 Wardens were also Agility based. http://www.wowwiki.com/Warden_(Warcraft_III)

I disagree... These abilities have nothing to do with Wardens apart from the "shadow" on their names and even that is a very dim relation. I see not how rogues and wardens are related anymore than just being very agile fighters.

I Know that mail fits better the whole armor pattern that most people see as a major rule that cannot be bent or broken unless the whole world's(of warcraft) foundations crash BUT I still believe that na alternative route can be taken. And it may lead to great things.
Giving an agile fighter an heavy armor may seem inappropriate at best. However, if created carefully, it can show us a new way of playing the game! That's what I tried to do with this class. A warrior that is agile(up to a point) and has good armor may seem like an unbeatable oponente simply because it is virtually unreachabl due to the high dodge chance and high armor in the case of the tank spec, high cc and armor in the ranged spec and high dps and armor in the melee spec.
But although this class excels in survivability by nature, it can still be overpowered as I point out in the specs description on the first page of this thread.

I love my Warden in Rift. She's like... a super resto druid. Take all the healing abilities of a resto druid, add a couple more aoe heals/hots, add shaman earth shield, and disc priest bubbles... remove shapeshifting... pheno.

seriously... this is starting to get annoying ppl. This thread's Warden is 100% based off on Maiev/Wardens from WOW- nothing more. It is not intended to become a healer in any way. And even though I admit I stole some ideas from characters in league of legends and dota, the general concept is still intact.

On another note: I finished the ability tables for the Rift Runner so check it out gang - Templar Harbinger's ability table will be done today also =)

We are indeed saturated in the current lineup because the roster is full. However, I am talking about expanding this roster...

The rest of the problems you presented I believe do not demand a reply after the above explanation, up until here:

I can understand your confusion. I myself also think that wardens are agility fighters, the trick is on making them wear plate and still play like agile fighters. That is what I am trying to do here, because plate is a challenging, different and exciting way of creating this class

The problem with Warden as a playable class is that their role in society is basically to guard one place, or chase one guy, or maybe escort a prisoner somewhere. They're not adventurers.

Nope srry I forgot to write down the race restrics. But bare in my mind that imo, these are not ment to be definitive because the game is ever changing. but thanks for the comment

that could be said about priests or even monks as they supposedly don't like war. Yet they are moved away of their primary lifestyle so we can play them =)

Except with Wardens it's not a lifestyle choice, it's their actual job. It's what makes them Wardens in the first place.

i dont get it. why cant they leave their place and chase wrongdoers around the world? where does it say that they are bound to stay forever in the same place? btw that reminds me. didndt maev chase after illidan? they are not the buckingham palace sentries lol

All rogues need to be a warden is spirit of vengeance. Which could happen. Because its just a manifestation of hatred. Rogue has fan of knives. An impaling ranged attack that poisons isnt hard, and with cloak and dagger, rogues can teleport around like wardens. Whats the problem?
