Wasn't there a study somewhere that estimated a good chunk of successful people were borderline psychopaths?

I think i've seen it, but psychopathic traits are, to a large degree, very attractive.

It makes sense from an evolutive point of view: psychopaths are very good at self-preservation and at removing genetic competition, hence whatever traits identify them are going to become attractive. After all, "attractiveness" is, from a genetic point of view, the ability to produce offspring with high chances of survival.

And in a society where the ability to impress, to be magnetic and attractive allows you to form good social connections, and since social connections are more important for success than other kinds of skills, it's obvious that psychopaths are going to be successful.

Unless they are the also sociopaths (which also happens commonly), because that's self-defeating.
