    Tanking ToT LFR

Anyone know of a writeup or FAQ per say that has tank responsibilities, positioning, etc for ToT LFR?
I just recently got my prot pally's ilvl high enough to go there and don't know the tank's PoV as I've only done ToT as ranged DPS and melee DPS.

Monsem - Shadow Priest / Halimath - Prot Paladin / Groundchuk - Elemental Shaman

From my experience, you should macro taunt to all your abilities so you wont lose the boss, ever. Or at least, that's what people that tank with me seem to be doing.

    /sarcasm off

    This will work:

    1. Jin'Rohk - Taunt off the other tank when he gets the debuff. The easiest way is to stand in the middle.
    2. Horridon - Tank the boss, then the adds, then the boss, then the adds, then the boss. Keep the boss to the side of the door.
    3. Council - Tank Sul / Malak or Priestess / Malak. Taunt Malak off the other tank before he gets 15 stacks. Keep lowest HP boss away from Priestess.
    4. Tortos - Tank boss. Or agro bats and tank them on top of the other tank.
    5. Magaera - Tank Green -> Blue -> Green -> Blue etc. Or Red -> Blue -> Red -> Blue etc.
    6. Ji-Kun - Taunt when the other tank gets 2 stacks of talon rake.
    7. Durumu - Taunt when the other tank gets 5 stacks of serious wound.
    8. Primordius - Get mutated, then taunt the boss. Or tank the boss, then get taunted off when the other guy gets mutated, then get mutated yourself. Make sure the max stacks of Blood you get is 10.
    9. Animus - Tank left side or right side. stand on top of some random person when Animus is out so they can soak anima ring for you.
    10. Iron Qon - Tank swap every time the boss changes. Don't stand in bad stuff, take him to the entrance of the room.
    11. Consorts - Ice boss do whatever. Fire boss don't stand in fire, tank swap at 5 stacks max, and stand her on top of ice crystals.
    12. Lei Shen - Don't let him fully charge any orbs, so move him before it's charged. Taunt when the other tank gets decapitate. Tank adds on top of the boss.

Tanking most fights in LFR is very easy and often a job for one tank. Most of the times I just talk with the other tank and ask who of us should put follow on the other, splitting it so that one is tanking and one is afk on each fight changing every fight. That said...

Jin'Rokh - Just taunt of when the other guy gets the stacks. Move the boss to the new spawned puddles so melees and yourself can get the increased damage done.

Horridon - Talk to the other tank and assign who takes adds and who takes boss on which gate. Usually you switch add and boss duty after every gate. Dont stand in shit.

Council - just keep aggro on the bosses, try to move all the bosses on top of eachother. You can not aggro Kazra'Jin. Do not stand in shit on the ground

Tortos - Talk with the other tank and just make sure one of you is on the boss and one of you is on the bats. Being on the boss is easier so if you are not sure what to do, that would be easier. As a tank you ignore the turtle adds. Move out from the blue circles on the ground.

Megaera - Just make sure you are tanking 1 head each and facing it away from the raid as they do breaths. Talk with the other tank before the boss which head you take. In case something is stupid enough to drop fire on you, just move out of it, but that should not happen.

Ji-Kun - Do not stand in the green pools. Taunt of eachother when the other gets to many stacks of the Talon Rake debuff, usually that is two stacks but if you get an elitist tank buddy you can expect him to wanna keep the boss on himself for more vengeance and epeen. Do not be alarmed if he spams taunt, there are many douchebag tanks in LFR. As you wrote you are a paladin, you should spec speed of light for this fight. When Ji-Kun casts Downdraft, he will attempt to push you out of the platform. Simple pop SoL and run towards to the boss so you dont get knocked off the platform.

Durumu - Pretty similar to Ji-Kun, taunt of the other tank when you get to many stacks. Usually 5-7 stacks of Hard Stare. You can reset your stacks with both BoP and DS. During the maze phase, avoid the giant beam of death that will instantly kill you and follow the group through the maze.

Primordius - If you know how to get mutated, then you can get mutated but it is not really necessary. Just taunt off eachother when the other tank gets too high. Move to boss slowly just so it does not absorb any of the purple pools.

Dark Animus - Ehr... Just pick everything up, tank and spank, chaos zerg.

Iron Qon - Just avoid standing in shit. Only one tank is needed here but if you use two, I suggest one of you just going afk.

Twins - Just tank them. When a beast of nightmare spawns on you in the first phase kill it. In the second phase, move the fire boss to the ice meteors. Nothing more to it really.

Lei-Shen - The boss itself is just a tank and spank except for giving the pillars energy. I would suggest you check a video on how overloading the pillars work, or ask if the other tank can do it so you can watch and learn. It is a one tank fight so it is not really a problem if the other tank knows what to do.

Typically the tank needs to know one or two things for each LFR fight - like how many stacks to taunt swap on. (Lei Shen is the exception and way more complicated.) The more you know, the smoother it can go but if you don't know the one or two essential things, you risk a wipe or a kick or both.

I like Forgettable's advice, but would add or change a bit, italics added:

    1. Jin'Rohk - Taunt off the other tank when he gets the debuff. When a tank gets thrown, bring the boss to the puddle, with his back to it.
    2. Horridon - Tank the boss, then the adds, then the boss, then the adds, then the boss. Keep the boss to the side of the door. When Jalak comes down at the end, one tank picks him up. Dino tank pops CDs when Jalak dies. Use bubble and HoP to clear your stacks.
    3. Council - Tank Sul / Malak or Priestess / Malak. Taunt Malak off the other tank before he gets 15 stacks. Keep lowest HP boss away from Priestess. Interrupt as Sul/Priest as much as you can.
    4. Tortos - Tank boss. Or agro bats Don't tank them on top of the other tank - it can be hard for the add tank to get aggro on the bats and tanking on the other tank makes that worse.
    5. Magaera - Tank Green -> Red -> Green etc. Leave Blue alone.
    6. Ji-Kun - Taunt when the other tank gets 2 stacks of talon rake. Use your speed burst talent for downdraft.
    7. Durumu - Taunt when the other tank gets 5 stacks of serious wound. Feel free to bubble/HoP to get rid of the debuff, e.g. if other tank dies. You can solo this fight
    8. Primordius - Get mutated, then taunt the boss. Or tank the boss, then get taunted off when the other guy gets mutated, then get mutated yourself. Make sure the max stacks of Blood you get is 10.
    9. Animus - Tank left side or right side. step out of anima ring if tanking boss. Prepare to switch with other tank if stacks from Massive Golems become an issue
    10. Iron Qon - Tank swap on 2 stacks. After first whirlwind, take boss to the back of room. Feel free to use bubble to remove stacks. You can solo this fight.
    11. Consorts - Ice boss taunt swap on beast of nightmares.. Fire boss don't stand in fire, tank swap at 2 stacks and stand her on top of ice crystals.
    12. Lei Shen - Don't let him fully charge any orbs, so move him before it's charged. Taunt when the other tank gets decapitate. Tank adds on top of the boss.Phase 1, let north quadrant get to 86-90 energy before moving; rest get to 75ish. Phase 2, let one overload. Phase 3, taunt swap often or runaway from boss when he channels to reset your debuffs. You can solo this fight.

As a tank, it can be useful to act as a "raid leader" in some way, as only you and the "real RL" have the tools. For example, making groups for Lei Shen or marking the Ji-Kun nest team and putting them in their own group.

Always have Blizzard's raid frames on (or other raid frames) so you can see if people are DC, you have 6 healers etc. Do a "/readycheck" and then a "/dbm pull 5" when everyone is ready. Make the other tank your focus, except for Council, when it's better to focus Malak for easy taunting.

An alternate for Primordius LFR is to have the entire raid do nothing but tunnel the boss. This works well in Normal as well, but it can be harder to get everyone on board in LFR if they want to see big numbers, so they kill pools to get transformed and end up healing the boss with purple puddles. Still, the fact that everyone is standing still means you can outdamage it and can be healed through the stacks. They only go up to 20, then they fall off automatically.

You can keep primordius in the center on lfr, the purple ones heal him for some trivial amount :P
