    -Open world PvP
    -Structured PvP
    -Scenarios
    -Dungeons
    -Raids
    -Patch events

None of those require the Alliance vs. Horde war to exist. None of those are affected in any way by the war from a player perspective, because nothing we do affects it. It is a narrative only, one that serves to make things slightly easier to justify from a lore perspective... but one which we could easily do without.
I can add some more aspects of gameplay which have no bearing on faction...

    -Arena
    -Rated Battlegrounds
    -LFR
    -LFD
    -Guild competition
    -world and realm first achievements
    -achievement hunting
    -transmogging

The list of parts of the game which uses the two factions is EMBARRESSINGLY tiny

    -Battlegrounds
    -Wintergrasp & Tol Barad

Lol it would never happen, that way the faction change pay feature won't have any meaning so less money for Blizzard >_>
Plus peace is an illusion :P

I personally love this idea, though I wish to begin with, the Horde leaders were actually "evil" so it would make more sense that we feud. Have the Alliance as "good" guys and Horde (not class specific for either obviously) as "bad" guys, then pick which race we want and why we choose to join the faction we do. (I know this is not how Warcraft is, this is simply my perception of how it should be)

Look at how many quest givers we accept quests from that are opposite faction race. Look at the multitudes of factions (Cenarion Circle, Argent Crusade/Dawn, etc) who include any race as long as they are driving towards the same goal. Their ultimate goal is fighting a greater evil and accepting anyone who is on their side to strengthen their group, not wasting lives and resources on, "YOU HAVE GREEN SKIN THEREFORE YOU MUST DIE" or "THERE ONCE WAS A VERY RACIST HUMAN THAT TREATED US LIKE CRAP, THEREFORE YOU ARE ALL OBVIOUSLY LIKE HIM AND MUST DIE". You can't tell me that EVERY Horde (or Alliance) member wants to rip the head off the opposite factions members, simply because they aren't Horde or Alliance. There are plenty of "bad eggs" in your own faction NPC wise, (Defias, Kor'Korn Krazies), but I don't see the humans, orcs or any others getting kicked to the curb by their fellow factions races because a handful of them are no good. The "Alliance" and "Horde" (obviously my peronal opinion..not saying it fits with Warcraft at all) should be more, "I want to the defend the world against evil and those I care about, regardless of race" and the other side being "I'm a power hungry monster who will annihilate any in my path who do not join me in my conquest for glory!". I'm sorry, but from how Thrall and Vol'jin and the Tauren leaders have been portrayed, they seem far more neutral than anything, and it just doesn't make sense when we're beating each others heads in. If NPC's can be neutral and work with opposite faction races for the greater good, or evil if you think about Twilight's Hammer and such (not just temporary toleration), then why can't I?

I can't see after working together and creating a strong force (for example the Darkspear Rebellion) to fight world-doomers like Garrosh, to just turn around and be like, "Hey Trolls...it's great that we worked together to bring down that piece of garbage. But now I have to kill ya because well, you're a Troll and I'm Alliance and it just has to work this way. Hope we don't need extra man-power for the next big threat because I simply can't allow you to live." Wut?

Also, gameplay-wise, I think it would be great to be able to group with your opposite-faction Btag friends for raids and dungeons or even neutral zone quests. How many times I've heard, "All my friends play X faction, so I had to switch too even though I don't like that faction."
It would be great to know you could play the race you are most comfortable/happy with without having to switch because your friends aren't a part of your faction. Perhaps it would also help faction imbalance when it comes to certain aspects of the game.

Note: Sorry if I left words/punctuation out, I am extremely tired and shouldn't even be up right now, lol.

Warcraft 3 - Peace occurred, and should of continued to occur. Renewing hostilities at the start of WoW was retardedly stupid to start. There was no reason at all for a break down, and none was given in Vanilla at all.

BC - The Alliance from Outland wanted to fight Orcs and the Orcs wanted to check out their homeworld. Again stupid for the war to be on going. PVP vs Aldor and Scryers would of solved.

Wrath - Logical that the Horde and Alliance would be united against the Scourge. Hellscream coming into power would of made sense to a START to hostilities. Warsong Clan and Wrathgate would continue to build on this.

Cata - Garrosh starts a real war on the need for resources.

MoP - War reaches conclusion and ends. Factions return to allies. Battle Grounds become War-Games, and PVP becomes FFA.

Fixed it to better reflect what the Lore should of been.

Kick out Humans, Night Elves, Gnomes, Worgen and Draenai of the Alliance.. Then the Horde will accept an application to merge...

I sure like slaughtering orcs, beasts need to be culled.
The common man is like a worm in the gut of a corpse, trapped inside a prison of cold flesh, helpless and uncaring, unaware even of the inevitability of its own doom.

If Anduin goes batshit insane, Shadow priest-ish badass empowered by whatever Demon manifestation comes along, I'd gladly fight Anduin.

It's not about killing your own faction, but killing characters who go apeshit.

I would much rather kill innocent, light-worshipping version of anduin to be honest.....
Also Anduin being badass ? Are you serious ?

The Horde and Alliance have worked together before, it doesn't mean they need to join factions.

There would still be WAR between us and the Burning Legion, so it's not like the whole "War" aspect of the Warcraft would be lost. I think that argument is getting a bit old, sure "Orcs vs Humans" is what started the whole thing and continued to push it but sometimes a major change must be made for the story to continue, if we're to get peace between the two factions, this would be the right time. As for battlegrounds and so on, right now in RBG's and Arenas you can already fight against your own faction, don't see why that couldn't be added to the normal battlegrounds aswell.

Unless they introduce another faction then that idea would be totally silly and it would kill off the genre. However, if they introduce a burning legion faction of races which include as example: Fel orcs, broken draenei, naga, ogre, etherals (or w/e their spelled) and other races affiliated with the burning legion then it could make sense. As for the ones where horde vs ally at war areas they could do some sort of phasing or make it stay the same. Although both ideas just dont fit in and "Warcraft" wouldn't just feel the same, having played all warcraft games it would feel weird allying with the alliance or horde being together.

If he goes insane and gets empowered by a whole lot of demon shit, then yes.

Garrosh is just an orc, he's pretty badass.

Merging fractions would be the best thing to hit the game since LFD. Rift has it, and there's a bunch more people to play with, and it breeds less dickery. Much like resurrections and language, it dosnt have to abide by lore, just be a game play mechanic.

  16. #136
If they united, then the game's dead as far as I'm concerned. It might work for an RTS sequel, but not the MMO. The faction war is arguably the most important aspect to the story and game. It'd be pointless without it, especially for the PvP crowd.

I want to know how this would breed less dickery?
On PvP servers, it would just bring back dishonorable kills - which sucked.

Yeah, because we've actively dealt with eachother in means of war.

The only thing we had were dailies afaik.

As a role player I would much rather have the factions remain distinct.

At least I could reroll human.

No but seriously, this won't happen. If it did, it would likely tip me off of the edge and I'd quit. There's a long list of reasons why I should, something like that isn't going to make me want to stay. I've been quite happy with things so far, apart from the terribly cliche and boring Garrosh plot.
    pencil is cool
