Gloria Victis - Polish indie MMORPG

This is the repost from the last thread that was closed (for whatever reason ). I think it's worth to at least mention about it.

I would like to introduce you a game which bases at medieval times...

Imagine that you are thrown into a world 20 years after violent and bloody events, which swept across the whole continent as a wave of wars, crusades and unexplained assassinations. Now you become a centre of a conflict between ascendants of the first creators of the world.

Choose your side in this conflict, choose your guild, family and chapter, and claim the holy land in their name, taking it back from the usurpers. You can join your friends and follow the path of lost artefacts from ancient legends. You can delve deep into this world’s history and benefit from its glory and wisdom.

Know however that each and every move of yours is followed by enemies who await your moment of weakness. As soon as it happens, they will come and take what is the most precious to you.

Will you dare to accept such a challenge?

    Features:

    - free MMORPG,
    - the world of Middle Ages, in which magic is not a common tool but rather serves as elite force – its concept is based on the real world rites and beliefs of those times,
    - a dedicated non-target system featuring virtual replicas of weapons in close combat, projectile and mounted fight,
    - an unrestricted character development and progress (no classes or professions limiting player’s choice),
    - a mature story focused on serious themes,
    - complex, non-linear quests, enabling the player to change the story as well as the attitude of Non Player Characters,
    - dedicated mini-games as optional (and highly profitable) ways of solving puzzles available in the game (another option is to try and solve the puzzle automatically, using player character’s skill),
    - 10 different crafting systems, providing players with items to use in the internal economy of the game,
    - Unity 3D engine responsible for rendering graphics using shaders version 2.0 as well as 3.0.

    Team:

The Black Eye team consists of over twenty professionals – coders, designers, graphic artists, as well as sound and production specialists.

Creating and sharing free, high-quality games, packed with ingenious plots and industry-standard assets has been our goal since 2008. In order to meet this goal we incessantly train our skills to complete ambitious projects using bleeding-edge technology.

Combat system they are going for is really hard to create (from both technical and game design pov). It seems behind the schedule. I expect a sort of stagger system after hits depending on point of hit and momentum in this type of realistic combat but it seems it's not in game. These kind of stuff takes really long time to implement properly. Not expert in this area but Unity is not good for big projects because of its restrictions over programmers. Some stuff maybe problematic later on. Anyway, I hope they make it right but I never support a bad execution just because its indie.

Well i understand Your concerns but it is still a pre-alpha, not even beta footage, so we will have a lot of changes in the future (check the last pre-alpha video and this one, how many changes, good changes have been done during this time). They have to release some footage from time to time to gain some attention from ppl and maybe investors because for now they have NO BUDGET AT ALL, it's not low budget, it's NO budget, so it is even lower than indie and under this circumstance they have made great job.

Soon They will probably start a new kickstarter campaign, so maybe then they will get some founds to make the animations and combat better.

    Eh. Not really.

It looks a lot like vindictus or TESO.
    (Warframe) - Dragon & Typhoon-
(Neverwinter) - Trickster Rogue & Guardian Fighter -

The combat system sounds like the one in the Mount & Blade series, which would be a good thing, that combat system is great.

It doesn't even remotely look like TESO. Vindictus combat seems like traditional hack n' slash combat which is pretty fast paced compared to this game. Gloria's combat is way more slow paced, it is likely to be more realistic and it will have some sort of stagger system.

Combat system is inspired by Mount and Blade and War of the Roses. Developer announced also that GV will have first person perspective (but it will take some time to implement, cuz they will ha ve to work on Moore detiled textures for FPP).

Might actually be cool once it gets finished and they polish up the animations. Will keep my eye on this.

Also... "truly belongs to gammers!" Just thought that was funny.

    Update after 3 years

The game took a long jurney since 2013. You should really visit the site and take a look on the changes that has been made over the years. Not to mention Gloria Victis is already on steam.

Also developers are working on new animations, the big problem that many players have about this game

The animator is Jakub "Kubold" Kisiel, the person who worked on Gears of War and Geralt himsefl from The Witcher 3, so we can expect high quality animations

A game is shaping very nicely lately and the boost from steam sales realy made the updates more dynamic
