Question How much are Koreans paying by the hour?

I think it was the Koreans who have to pay by the hour for their WoW sessions, how much do they pay anyways?

I don't think they paid that much, A few cents or w/e it's called in their language.
I recall that blizzard didn't lose that much money even though they lost 1,3M in 3 months time.

They do pay more than us, My college friend went over to korea to document their starcraft 2 scene and said they pay more then we do to play but their time is somewhat limited, I don't know if they have like time restriction's on how much they can pay a day etc.

If you pay by days there is no restriction. You can play 1 second or 24/7 or whatever and no extra charge

The currency is called South Korean Won. The exchange rate is in the part you quoted, 1US$=1100W.

While they pay more that the Western regions, doesn't most of the money go to the company that runs WoW in Asia? I forget what it's called...
    It's called Netease.

I've seen it reported that it's something like a 55 / 45 split, blizzard gets the 55% as a kind of licensing fee and the rest goes to Netease.

Also worth noting is this from the wiki page:

"In South Korea, there is no software package or CD key requirement to activate the account. However, to play the game, players must purchase time credits online."

Blizzard doesn't get all the money. They only get a very small amount usually a few cents on the dollar and the rest goes to whoever is licensing Wow from Blizzard.

The high price might be a deterrent that is intentional. They have some serious gaming addiction problems in South Korea.

This thread is about Korea not China, WOW is operated by Blizzard in Korea.

I doubt Korea has a larger problem with gaming addiction than any other country.
