Fighting Games

I want to start getting into fighting games such as Street Fighter, Soul Cal, tekken, and others but I'm hoping to find some answers on some questions I had.
My first question is which platform is best for fighting games or does it matter at all, between Xbox and Playstation. My second question is about controllers I really want to get an Arcade Stick but I don't know which one to buy and what platform.
