Something awesome hapened in LFR this week.

So i've been gearing up my Druid as a Tank (see sig) in LFR.

I queue for the second wing of ToT and right off the bat i get a whisper from the other tank "Hey, i'm new to the place". He was a Blood Elf Male Warrior with little achievement points and it was fairly obvious by his gearing that he wasn't very experienced. Shrugged it, i mean, can't be worse than my usual runs.

I then went ahead and explained clearly how to tank every single fights and trashes in whispers, the guy not only listened but did everything very well, Tortos went flawlessly, Megaera was a joke, not a single breath even touched the raid (considering how many time i had to heal through them on my monk...) and Ji'kun taunt swaps were finely executed. He didn't even die to Gastropods, unlike half of my raid. He told me multiple time how much he appreciated how helpful i was, and i can imagine how much abuse you probably endure as a new tank in this day and age of LFD/LFR anonymity. Specially since it contrasted so much with my attitude in Instance chat where i usually make fun of idiots and such (yeah sorry, if you die 3 times to the gastropod or can't move out of the raid with cinders, don't blame me for calling it out).

I actually enjoyed what first came off as yet another grueling LFR experience because i got to play with someone that was willing to learn and to put efforts into the game. If even a tiny fraction of LFR raiders were like that guy, i might change my stance about it.

Now don't get me wrong, i'm not patting myself on the back here, its only natural for the experienced to pass down his knowledge to the inexperienced. I just think its awesome because i can't remember the last time i got to do it without either getting flat out insulted for it, or ignored.

Sounds great! Wish this would be more common nowadays...

I completely understand how you feel. It's really frustrating when bad players don't take your advice and keep failing. Even when they can clearly see you performing better on the damage meter or with fight mechanics, they hold on tight to their way of doing things.

I actually like helping people get better, given that they actually listen and learn from it. Not those players that ask you the same question over and over and over and over... and over and over... and more than that.

People forget they were once noobs. Same with driving. When you see someone learning to drive, think back to how you were struggling and it will put things into perspective. Of course, there are exceptions; people that utterly suck at driving, but in most cases, it works. It does for me anyway. Again, they need to be willing and actually learn from my advice.
    Statix will suffice.

To be quite honest, I don'rt find it that bad most times I go into LFR, once in a while it's painful, but most ppl already know the deal by now...and to be even more honest, the problem people are most often those who outgear it and think it's funny to mess with the 'scrubs'.
Mileage may vary, that's only MY experience.

This, and it's sad how its surprising to get people that actually ask what do i do, if they've never done it before =/

I'm amazed a new tank had the guts to even enter LFR and admit he didn't really know what was going on. Roll the dice...

Good to hear a story of someone willing to learn ask for help, receive it, and do well because of it. Makes me a bit sad to read what I just wrote and feel like it's more the exception than the rule

I love posts like these, it reminds me that people like these do exist and you do run into them ocassionally. Thanks for sharing

Compared to the usual broken record posts around here, this one is refreshing. Thank you for sharing, OP. And thank you for not being a douche.

I have had the same happend once in LFR. Its nice to see ppl ask for instead of running like crazy without knowing what to do. i want to help ppl be better but have stoped trying because the most times they dont listen. I dont like to be called idiot and other things because i want to help.

I feel sorry for the healers :S

Reminds me on Megaera I noticed the other two rogues health would dip like everyone else during Rampage. So I said in chat after the second Rampage "Remember rogues to use feign. ". Every Rampage after that their healthbars barely moved. While no where near as helpful as you were Zergal it did bring a smile to my face.

Mind exlpaining that one? I healed LFR as both my Druid and Monk and its terribly easy, specially if you don't have to heal through breaths.

I wish there were more of these types of posts. I'm sure it happens often, but people don't post about it. Something about human nature drives them to post where they encounter crappy people in LFR but not the other way around.

Also, OP, good job in being patient and mentoring him rather than being dismissive. You're my kind of folk.

Did 2 times full ToT LFR in tank spec this week. In nearly every wings the other tank went full retard taunting on CD and barrely responding to simple /w (like, you know. Which head do you want ? Switch at 2 or 3 stacks ? You prefere boss or add ?)

Random is random, but nice tank are RARE in LFR. They are usually super bad played AND geared (not about ilvl, but just today a prot pally full dodge gems... and usually they all are full stam)

I've tanked LFR in terrible gear, it's terribly easy too, that's because healers were carrying me 0o When one person is low geared others have to compensate.

If even a tiny fraction of LFR raiders were like that guy, i might change my stance about it.
Also pretty much everyone who goes into LFR knows what to do they just choose not to because they can't be bothered/ are semi afk.

You can't undergear lfr. 480 is more than enough for the content and my Druid is 496.

Now like you said if every person who did LFR toke the time to help the new people & new people were willing to listen than LFR would be enjoyable. Personally hate LFR & only do it with Friends, But I have run into new Tanks in LFR that needed help surprising most listened & did well.

My one wish is that players who are new or want to get better take advice from the experienced players & not call us elitist were only trying to help in the first place. Most hardcore players are silent. I just hope that one day this wish could come true.

    Faith in humanity restored.
I usually help people if they ask me about something, even total strangers in trade chat ask some stupid stuff but I still do and they are really happy and grateful.

Nice. Did something similar myself, taught a tank how to go through Primordius and Dark Animus (yep). 1 shots on both. The player was very appreciative

Amazing what taking a little bit of time to help someone out can do
