There was one municipality in Sweden that also tried to enforce that men had to sit down while taking a piss. Was the laughing stock of all of Sweden for a week or so, before they realized it was a really poor idea.
In that case it wasn't about gender equality though, it was some idea of it being healthier for you or whatever.
