Post Illidan Stormrage, Demon Hunters and possible changes, opportunities.

Let's start with Illidan Stormrage at the Black Temple where we killed him, and possible changes and opportunities.

After Illidan's defeat at the Black Temple:

    a) He survived barely, now weak and hidden away.
    b) He died, and stays dead.
    c) He died, but becomes resurrected.

Let us imagine a little further forward as possible:

    a) He survived barly, now weak and hidden away. Time flies, Illidan getting stronger with each passing day.

    b) He died, and stays dead. But you experience the past with him before he died, as one of his followers he took from Azeroth.

    c) He died, but becomes resurrected. By Sylvanas, Wrathion, or by whatever is left of his forces, or by some unknown force, or god.

But all these possible changes gives us many questions as well, such as:

    1. With the change that a) and c) brings, what state of mind and emotions will Illidan Stormrage now have?

    2. With the change that b) brings, his fate is known, but what will you experience with him and what will your future be after his death?

Possible answers to 1. and 2:

With a), he may be the same but stronger as he returns, or his near death experience changed him from his chatoic evil being to something else.

With c), he died, and then because of his resurrection - he lost his chaotic evil side, and has now become the one he was as a night elf, more clear minded.
Just a side note: He is still a half demon/night elf, but I'm talking about his state of mind and feelings.

With b), you follow Illidan to a time right before his death. Then you follow one Night Elf\Blood Elf leader in Illidan's force, that was one of the first to folllow Illidan Stormrage from Azeroth. Now as Illidan is dead, they wish to return home to Alliance\Horde.

So what do you guys think?

If you are particularly bold, you could use a Shiny Ditto. Do keep in mind though, this will infuriate your opponents due to Ditto's beauty. Please do not use Shiny Ditto. You have been warned.

He's half demon. Dreadlords have been known to resurrect themselves after death.

That's interesting. It makes me think of something.

"When Illidan "consumed" the skull it was not destroyed, and Illidan kept it in his possession.."

So before he "consumed" the Skull of Gul'dan, could Illidan change into demonic form and speak metaphorically?

What about... He was planning this all along?
I mean, the guys at altar of shatrath have a dialogue (that I cant find right now) about Illidan not acting in a very logical way.
He doesn't really attack Shatrath itself, the people there were prepared but the attack from the black temple never comes.
Jubeka and Kanrethad have a dialogue about how illidan "freed" the demons from the addiction to the burning legion magic and they were wondering why they were still there...

It's just a wild guess and maybe I'm just a big fan who's reading too much but there's a lot of potential here.

Aslong as the thread is not ment to troll or start flame wars i don't see why people are not suppose to start several threads, aslong as they are worth having a discussion about and a topic that actually interest people.

Ontopic: If Illidan come back im afraid he won't be the "last boss" of the expansion but yeah i would be openminded if he came back but as a villian. Maybe make us think that he is the main villian but turns out he was being manipulated by someone behind the scenes etc:P

I think it was hinted somewhere, I don't remember where, that he stored his soul in the Reliquary as a kind of safeguard after the lost fight with Arthas. It would explain why he went pure psycho in Outland and possibly allow him to come back as his pure Night Elf self.

If Illidan were to come back it would not be as a villain.

Apparently he first did this during the War of the Ancients, 10,000 years ago. The skull just gave him demonic features and power in his non-demon form.

"Illidan's demons are free of their natural magic addiction, and the usual Fel taint seen alongside the Burning Legion is not present with them".

"Kanrethad Ebonlocke says: The Observers were in the service of Illidan... not the legion.
Jubeka Shadowbreaker says: Well, he's gone too... so why are they still around?
    ".

    This is very interesting.

Black Temple was merely a setback.

You cant enslave Observers, their erratic nature prevents that. They are gourmets of arcane, they want to sample every possible taste, and they follow anyone that allows them to do just that.

Really, they will follow anyone as long as they can taste.

Regarding demon hunters, I'd watch the black Harvest.

I think that Illidan Stormrage should not return as a enemy, and does not either need to be friend.
    Neutral works.

Kil'jaeden must be destroyed sometime, and is there anyone better than Illidan, the Demon Hunter.
To hunt him and destroy him? Maybe not alone, but with us and his force of Demon Hunters? Perhaps..

I don't see Illidan coming back any time soon as an anti-hero or anything. I would welcome a possible CoT dungeon based on some of his past Warcraft lore though.. He was one of my favourite characters ever after all.

I hope some of you read b), as we didn't really get much response to that one, from those who didn't want Illidan to return.

Illidan is a demon. Demons aren't "Killed" when you destroy their physical form-- they go reeling back into the Twisting Nether and regenerate gradually. It follows that Illidan, too, would simply regenerate in the nether, weakened but largely intact.

And as much as I hate the idea, I'm sure this'll be a thing that will happen someday: A dungeon where we defend/escort Illidan. One of the encounters is... Maiev. Since she's gone all evil and shit (goddamnit Blizzard...)
