Very quick H Ra Den 10m Question

For a first time kill, is it advised to kill the red orbs the final phase, or just straight out burn him?

To be honest we don't even bother switching to phase two orbs. Assuming you are three healing and make sure to give your tank plenty of attention, no one should die assuming proper cooldown usage.

    We ignore them.

We ignore them after 20% boss HP.
Most people do not realize the talent and skill it requires to be in a top guild. Many of you think its only about time invested, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

We blow hero after 1st orb. If it's an Anima Orb we kill it and I (Hunter, deterrence) soak it. After that we just burn the boss down and ignore orbs. Bear in mind he dies at around 5.5% HP.

If the 1st orb in last phase is a Vita, we ignore and go straight to the burn.

I'm not entirely sure about 10m but in 25m we usually kill the red orbs until Ra-den is on 20%.

The fight will end faster if you kill red orbs (above a certain health %) and can effectively soak them. Each one that hits increases his health by 10%; e.g., if his health is at 30% and the orb hits, he'll still be at 30% health, but his health value will be that of if he were at 33% before the orb hit.

However, you can just completely ignore them and be fine on 10m. The phase will just last longer, but your healers should have no problem handling it at current gear levels. You could do the same on 25m, but his health will overflow and bug at 1/1 hp if too many hit before you kill him.

Wait really? That's hilarious. Can you not kill him when he's at 1/1?

According to someone in Midwinter, no you can't kill him. He posted it in another thread awhile back.

Just ignore them and burn the boss without a doubt. There is a measurable dps loss by actively switching to kill red orbs with the average itemlevel of raids these days. That is to say, the amount of DPS your raid should put out (especially if 1-tanking and/or 2-healing) during your Bloodlust/burn phase at the end is more than the equivalent "lost DPS" from letting a heal go through at the end. For example, in my raid group, on our first kill (where we killed red orbs thinking it was best) we had Ra-den at around 28% health by the time the first Phase 2 orb reached the boss (it was a Blue orb so we ignored it). Therefore, even if that first orb had been Red, the actual heal Ra-den would get would be ~2.8% of his health. For our Raid DPS with 1-tank/2-heals during Bloodlust and all that (around 2m RDPS), even if only half our damage output on the boss was lost by swapping to kill the first Red orb, we still would've had a net-loss overall by preventing that heal compared to just ignoring it and burning Ra-den more. And of course, all subsequent Red orbs later in the phase are even a smaller heal and thus even more irrelevant. Since we saw the reality of the situation after our first kill, all subsequent kills we ignore them and it is much smoother and easier.

TLDR; You lose more DPS by swapping targets to Orbs in Phase 2 than you "makeup" by preventing the heals, so just ignore them all and burn the boss, regardless of the Orb order.

We did exactly this while 3 healing but lost 9 people on out fist descent attempt on phase 2 so the healing can be quite demanding (suspect this is because of the number of corrupted anim that spawn and get through) So anyway our protection paladin left alone at 12% and we were talking about adjustments for the next attempt while out tank just solo'd the remainder of Ra-dens hp...was epic cant wait for the guild video editor to post the fight.

Ha ha will do as soon as i think of another 5 things to say on this forum ><

It's important to note that the heal is not a true 10% of current hp. It's %-5.4 * .10, since he always is defeated at 5.4%.. i.e. keep in mind that when he eats the orb the amount of health you have to bring him down to also gets increased. Thus if he was at 30% and ate an orb, his "heal" is for 30-5.4 * .10 = 2.46% which as stated above, is insignificant enough to just not kill the orbs.

if you have a rogue or spriest kill the first 1 that spawns and maybe the 2nd (if rogue) then burn after that. But honestly if your 540+ ilvl you can prob just ignore and burn assuming your healers are not your guilds weak point.

we went with, killing red orbs till he is at 20% and then ignore them and burn him.

We lusted at 40% and ignored all orbs. We also 3 healed as well. Burned him to about 20% when lust fell off and the rest was a joke. We grossly over gear it though. So if you're 540+, I'd just say ignore orbs all together. We'll be two healing next week to just end it quicker. Cool fight I guess? Only 24 attempts to kill it. Like everyone's said, huge let down after lei shen.

Are the ppl that are 3m healing it, doing it 1 or 2 tanks?

  20. #20
Three healing with a pally tank. Once he figured out the one single button to press before fatal strike(if not pressed, will one shot you :P) he rarely dipped below 30-40%.

EDIT: Huge plus if you have a monk tank. All they have to do is use their regular rotation, win.
