    1200 dollar gaming build help.

I need evetything but an OS. My brother has a copy i think he said i could use. I need a monitor, speakers, mouse, and keyboard.

So i posed a threat a few weeks ago, but never got many replies, and this was the build suggested to me.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

    CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($239.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ Microcenter)
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD4H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($198.49 @ Newegg)
    Memory: Mushkin Blackline 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($62.99 @ NCIX US)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 2GB Video Card ($259.99 @ Amazon)
Case: NZXT Source 220 ATX Mid Tower Case ($49.03 @ Amazon)
    Power Supply: XFX 550W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($45.99 @ NCIX US)
    Total: $866.46

I would like the most power i can get while also having a 1080p monitor above 20 inches in size, all for a max budget of 1200 dollars.

Edit: Im ordering officially on August the 10th if that helps.

If you can afford it I would recommend adding an SSD at some point (120GB ~$90 250GB $170)

Besides the obvious additions and changes I made in my build suggestion, I changed the RAM because your current ones are 1.65v which is not really recommended for a Haswell build. No reason so pay that much extra for the motherboard. The PSU is a really good deal, $15 off and $30 MIR for SLI support, modular and Haswell compatible.

I would do a variation on your build and go with a new 6950 on ebay for $145 shipped and just go with a cheap keyboard mouse combo and with the money you saved I would get a crucial m4 256gb for your main drive. The difference between the ssd vs. that blue drive is the difference between a geo metro and a Ferrari. Use the blue drive for a secondary drive for music/video storage and you will have a very nice system.

    Card: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MSI-AMD-Rade...item3cd354b9c3
    Keyboard+mouse: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16823334016
    SSD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148443

(EDIT)That samsung ssd he listed is very similiar in performance to the m4 so it really is a toss up for what you want. Just remember the crucial drive has been on the market longer and the firmware is more mature where the samsung is a newer drive.

Idk, is it really a good idea to be buying an old card like that?

Get the 4670 unless you really want to OC your proc.

No, it is not. That card, used, is worse than a 650ti Boost for about the same price. The 760 you already picked kicks the 6950 around the playground and makes it's mother buy ice cream for it after. Disregard any suggestion of 6950 with confidence.

I intend to overclock. This machine will play mmos 80% of the time and mmos are cpu dependent are they not?

Yes. CPU overclocking is a good idea for MMOs.

He's playing mmos a 6950 will be fine in any modern mmo at 1080p. An SSD is huge in mmos for loading times. Dumping more money into the video card than the cpu is pretty stupid in his case. Most mmos are extremely cpu limited. The way he should be spending money is cpu>ssd>graphics card. But it is his money and his decision.

I mainly play mmos, but i will definitely be playing other games as well. I would like the system to play the games that will be more advanced things to the new console gen. So getting a decent card now while maybe not necessary will be next year. Thanks for the input though.

Why would you get an older, worse card, when at the same price, there are better, faster cards?
the way he should be spending money is cpu>ssd>graphics card.
I'm curious how one can 'spend money' on a better cpu and ssd when they already have the best cpu and a good ssd? Sure, they play MMOs... But other games might be played later. If the budget allows, they can either choose to get a lower card at no performance loss to MMOs, or get a better card to support anything.
