    Class Concept: Demon Hunter

Due Note, this is Quite a Long Post, as it is an explanation as well as a Class Concept

note this the tank one for the concept

    The Demon Hunter
This is about the Class Conception of Demon Hunter. Now, with that, you may wonder why? That there are so many more, with "diversity" that could fit in. While you are correct on this, these "diverse" classes tend to be not of a central theme. With a central theme of an expansion, you see a class born. With the Wrath of the Lich King, a very lore and undead infested central theme. So what better than a Death Knight? or, in that case necromancer? With Mists of Pandaria, you are given a form of brewmaster, in the monk. Even though the monk is about Martial Arts, which is also a central theme of lore in pandaria, dealing with the fall of the Mogu Empire, you also had the weird Mistweaver spec, that was not really "Monk." The Original intent was to have the monk do minor damage and heal a ton through it, but since this was cut, in favor of the mistweaver we have, we are struck with a shaman and druid like healer. But do not be discouraged, about the monk aspect, as it fits the brewmaster aspect with its brewing of a different brew, besides beer, Tea. So with a Burning Legion. Central theme, with demons and more than likely the return of NPC demon hunters, if this was the expansion for Class, as they may choose another Expansion to set a theme off for the next class, How would they implement the Demon Hunter? How would a Demon Hunter look out of its comfort zone? And, like Death Knights and Monks, what would they be like outside of the expansion as it turns to a new Expansion not Demon hunter theme.

Well, to begin, how would they be so diverse? They are only seen in game as a melee that duel wields, and uses similar magic to warlocks, and with this, some people simply write them. They are seen with little to no armor, and their fast melee make people think rogues. Finally, the Demon Hunter's Core Abilities are "taken" in game, from the Warcraft 3 game. These reason make any demon hunter fan frustrated, but I ask you to keep an open mind, and invite you to see that Demon Hunters can have a diverse skill set to the point, they can almost do anything based on the lore they are given.

What do I mean almost anything? Well, tank, melee, range, and possibly ranged dps if you stretch the lore to such an extent. The current lore, that is canon is that of the description of the Demon Hunter from warcrat 3.

"Demon Hunters are dark, shadowy warriors who are shunned by the greater Night Elf society. They made a pact, long ago, to fight against the forces of chaos using its own terrible powers against it. These mysterious warriors ritually blind themselves so that they develop 'spectral sight' that enables them to see demons and undead with greater clarity. They wield demonically charged warblades in battle and even call upon demonic energies to augment their formidable combat skills. Although they are counted as some of the mightiest warriors within the Night Elves' society, the Demon Hunters are always maligned and misunderstood for making their selfless pact with darkness." ~ Wowpedia

This is what we know about the Demon Hunters from thousands of years ago, in the age of the War of Ancients, and the aftermath of cleaning up demons. What can be taken away from that? They are warriors, they use warblades, and they use chaos and demonic energies to augment their combat. But, how does range and range weapon dps fit in? Well, it said they do fight fire with fire, so using the same power against them in the terms of range, is not that hard to comprehend. Range Dps? It may be stretch, but unlike what you see demon hunters all wielding, WarGLAIVES are included into Warblades. So what if one Demon Hunter had a ranged weapon of choice, then would that not be his blade? Similar to Death Knights using weapons other than Swords, they can even go as far as wielding maces, a blunt instrument with no actual blade, yet it is considered a Runeblade to them. Yes, I know, I am probably making a lot of enemies by even saying any of this, though I am telling you, my class Concept does included "ranged" weapon dps, it is nothing like either the Hunter or the fake demon hunter from Diablo 3.

So for my Demon Hunter, I kept it pretty lore centric, revolving around the lore in game, warcraft 3, and around the only demon hunter we have a near complete lore on, Illidan. What struck me, was Illidan was a very proficient Arcane wielder before actually becoming a Demon Hunter, but still proficiently wielding it along with his own Warglaives, became a basis for its own spec. He also sought magic, like an addiction. With his corruption to skull of Guldan, and forever transfigured, this became the basis of the tank spec. With this, I gave the tank a resource called Magic Thirst, as he is morphed into this Corrupted form on themselves. Not into a big brute Night Elf, like how warlocks are given, but transfiguring themselves in the corruption. With this, some Demon Hunters go insane from the thirst, but you, being a Hero, have the Luxury of being sane. Using abilities depletes thirst, while building Fel Infusion, which gives you back all your thirst once used and gives you your active mitigation, pending your choice. And using this new found power to protect fellow Heroes and slay immensely powerful foes, doing this all while playing like a Demon Hunter, duel wielding or 2hin, your choice, and dodging and parrying attacks. Finally, it comes down it, what about about "Metamorphosis?" Well, this one is actually based on Illidan's in black temple. Unlike warlocks, where you take the Form of Corrupted Illidan, your metamorph is simply causing you to darken, like he did in Black Temple, all while being a Defensive Cooldown, rather than offensive.

Now, what about melee dps? Surely a demon hunter cannot be a demon hunter without his regular form? You are right. This spec is based all around that Demon hunter, the one you play in warcraft 3, but with World of Warcraft completely involved. It is simply about the wielding your warblades, which ever they may be (not ranged). Yet, with this, you are given energy, which is only there so you cannot spam abilities, and two other resource bars called balance and corruption. you start with a full bar of balance and each balance ability cost balance, to the point you are out of balance and now have corruption. But Instead of having a full bar of corruption, you have to build your corruption using corrupted version of abilities. Once Hitting Corruption max, you Morph into a demon, where you have 20 seconds of increased damaged corrupted abilities, before you balance out, and unmorph. Once back in the Balance state, your Balance abilities do increased damage as well for 10 seconds, but do not deplete the balance. Once these seconds are up, you are back to working. Now, this metamorph is different than both warlocks and the tanks metamorph. This Metamorph resembles that of the Warcraft 3 version. While Becoming the Corrupted form of the Tank, rather than having color, you are that disembodied black Metamorph, with little features, glowing blue from the warcraft 3. The true Metamorph of Demon Hunters.

And, finally we come to the dreaded range Spec, that people say will never happen. Well, I took this with full liberation, and blended the profession of Demon Hunters before they became Demon Hunters. Besides the melee, which are the two above, what about the magic and rangers? We know that Demon Hunters from all classes, in War of The Ancients, came to exist. So, what about these too? Well, rather than making them auto shots with abilities like hunters, I made them a more Caster Like class, at first. Wait, what? a caster using a bow? Actually, he is not using the bow at all while casting. Instead, that comes in his two extra resources to his mana. For me, when I thought of the Demon Hunter, what about the vengeance part of him? The ones seeking revenge against the Burning Legion and their agents? You would think that they would take it kind of personal watching their families killed by them and their consorts. So I came up with the magic stalker. He is about seeing the pain in his prey, torturing them with delight with the use of his diverse spells majority arcane, rather than delivering the final blow. So what about the ranged weapons? it sounds way to much like any old caster. Ahh, but that is where the fun begins. While casting, you are building up what is called Void bolts. With Void Bolts, you infuse your weapon completely with the dark magic, and using it to cast certain abilities, like Dark Barrage. Yet, if your infusing your weapon with the dark energies, what will eventually become? After building Void Bolts up enough, and using them, You get a Nether Spark Resource, which is then used to Metamorph your weapon into a demonic weapon from the Twisting Nether (depending on what your weapon is a bow or gun or crossbow), and then you shoot chaos damage arrows, with other things single target. Aoe? how about calling all three weapons? You know some became Demon Hunters simply out of Vengeance, and this is my attempt at creating a non rapid fire ranged weapon user, completely different than that of any hunter or ranger class. I wanted to give it that feel that "It could fit."

    But WAIT!

So what armor would they have? Lorewise, they could wear anything, as it is not stated. Though, they would be best in leather, they can easy fit that the imbalance of Mail.

What about the spells that are with other classes?
~Evasion here would be used as a passive in the tank tree, also giving them the ability to parry while duel wield and splitting the two down the middle, like a strength warrior. So if the dh is wielding a Offhand? and has 30% dodge, it would be 15/15%. If the DH was wielding a agil Polearm or 2h mace, it would be a straight 30%.

~Immolation, as used by a DH, is not used by anyone. A DH sets himself on fire, and burns the enemies around him, he does not burn the ground, which is Immolation aura by Warlocks and a copy of Infernal spell, nor does he use Immolate, which is the warlock setting others on fire. There is a difference.

~Metamorphosis, by a dh, is completely different than a Warlocks. A warlocks is a copied version of Illidan's Corrupted Form, and was created by Kanrethad Ebonlocke, and specializes in range combat and using many demon spells inside of it, with an Emphathsis on Nathrezim through sleep and carrion swarm. A Dh's metamorph, as shown in game, is based around melee combat and cleaves, still using the glaives in BT and WoE. While in wc3, he shoots Bolts of Chaos (the only thing that kills divine beings). So I made the Distinction, while the warlocks can have a "version" of it, it is simply based on Illidan's "form". While the Demon Hunter's is Based on the Warcraft 3 as the Disembodied Demon with no distinction. The Meta for the tank was made for the Meta of Illidan in Bt, that the warlocks did not copy, but is simply used as a defence cd, rather than a power up. And the ranged, instead of morphing the dh, this time, I did the weapon, to show distinction for everything, giving each spec its own version, that are completely different.

Hey! What about, you know.. hunter? Well... To people who get confused... tough luck? The Demon Hunter is the name of the class. DH for short. Not Hunter. This is something I will not stand by.

What about races? Well, I would keep them close to lorewise as possible, keeping them shut from a Majority, and alot of the goofy races.
    ~Night elf- Obvious Reason
    ~Blood elf- Obvious Reason
~Orc- Out of the Horde races, they have the biggest bone to pick with the Legion and demons.
~Humans- Along with the Orcs, they are second most likely to use to become demon hunters.
~besides those two, for certain, the other races that seem to fit would be trolls and Draenai. Wait Draenai? Yes, they are light loving beings that if they touch fel they deform... unless they accept it, and become demons. This would give Draenai a sort of in between, as the only goal of Demon Hunters, is destroying the legion. A draeenai vengeful enough just might make a pact with the darkness to destroy the legion, which is far more likely than subcoming to power and greed of a Warlock. So Demon Hunters? yes, Warlock? No.

Start at level 1? No. They would be the Second Hero Class. Starting out at X level (Blizzard). The instanced zones would then be filled with Lore for Demon Hunters, and filled with the rituals of arcane sight and runes. This would also be where you would get you will find the Rune Alter, for all your Rune purposes. (at bottom of post)

How can they be in an expansion after the burning legion? ~Wellll. Unlike Dks, where the threat of the Lich King if "forever" defeated, I highly doubt we will kill off the Legion in an expansion. We "May" kill off Kil'jaedan, but that would be it. There is an entire legion to kill of demons. So, DHs would stil be needed. But, along the way, they would make "friends" that they would want to accompany, as they do not see a monster, but rather a fellow hero. This making him adventure out, seeing more than just demons, but still killing the occasional demons he crosses, until the Legion return.

Narrow Archetypes! /oh please not this s**t again. Pally V Priest, Shadow Priest V AffLock.

So are you still with me, before even coming to the actual Concept, and conceptionalized abilites with things that probably need complete balancing?

Ahh Good. Please Enjoy, and Tell me how you fair it.

    Tank
    Corrupted

Would be wielding weapons rather than magic here.

Soaking in the essences of Fallen Demons, a Demon Hunter's power grows, yet it also corrupts and creates a thirst for magic. The corruption deforms the Demon Hunter's body, becoming more demonic in nature. The power is immense, and those who do not weary of its nature, fall victim to the curse of greed for more power. While few soak in the blood of the fallen willing, to serve the purpose of attaining greatest of fel power at the cost of their form, most do not survive without subcoming to such high corruption and needing to be banished. The few that do, are shunned even greater by society, only seeing the Corrupted as demons, not the sacrifice they gained to protect their people and slay immensely powerful enemies.

Resources: Magical Thirst and Fel Infusion.
Magical Thirst is the resource to use basic abilities, in the search for any sort of magic to latch onto and take, to build up Fel Infusion, through the use of X abilities.(should have 2 by end of ability amount)

    Melee Dps
    Balance Prowess

Balancing the power induced by the essences of fallen demons and their prowess in combat with their forte of magic, The Demon Hunter finds the equal medium between the Corruption and power it holds, and their other abilites to save themselves from furthering the corruption. When combating enemies, typically the use of warglaives, they fight the enemy with everything they have, while attempting to keep their calm, yet, as most veterans can tell of combat, it never goes perfectly to plan. To offset this, they tend to take a form, most heroes find unsettling. Seeing the volatile nature of the Demon Hunter, they are outcasts to the society that they wish to protect.

Resources: Energy. Balance and Corruption. Balance abilities deplete balance, and once the balance bar is depleted, corruption bar begins. Filling the corruption bar induces Metamorphosis for 20 seconds. During metamorphosis, corrupting abilities do more damage, while Post meta, all Balance abilities do X more damage for 10 seconds, and do not deplete Balance.

Mastery: Vision of Balance: Increases the damage of Balance Abilities by X, while increasing time in meta by Y. (takes a while to build time)

Immolation- Lighting himself aflame, dealing X amount of fire damage over 8 seconds to all target in a 10 yard radius.

    Corruption:
Overloading Fel- A debuff placed on the target, increasing the corruption gained by the Demon Hunter lasting X seconds, and disappears once the Demon Hunter restores balance. Instant.

Shadow Blast- A strike that explodes with shadow magic, doing X amount of damage.

Flame Blast- An arc of explosive fel flames, hitting every in front by X fire damage.

Chaotic Slash- A slash that does more damage with Overloading fel and Drawing Magic up. is fused with the powers of chaos, doing X chaos damage.

Shadow Rage- The Demon Hunter is consumed by the corrupting rage, increasing damage by X shadow damage.

Fel Immolation- Lighting himself in the fel Flames, dealing X amount of fire damage over 8 seconds

Metamorphosis- gives you "Corrupted Form" of tank spec, but your demonic attributes are all Black and seem disembodied, while you glow blue (think demon hunter meta from wc3)

    Cooldowns:
Stormrage's Touch- Induces the Corrupted bar rather than balance bar. (start of the fight if you wish).

Fel Sight- Seeing the enemy magic, the Demon Hunter hits harder, and depletes Balance faster or builds Corruption faster. increases damage by 20% 2 min cd.

    Range Dps
    Magic Stalker
~While I would like to have a picture for this, I have not found anything similar to a design of caster and bow wielder. Same with the weapons. ~sorry

Remembrance of the warglaives as the iconic weapon of the Demon Hunter, but no one remembers the bows of them; because none lived to tell about them. Demon Hunters that specialize in range combat tend to use the magic of their enemies against then, as being very proficient in magic as well. They are quite proficient with the bow, to the point it is not fun for them. These Demon Hunters tend to toy with their prey, the minions of the Legion out of Vengeance, Hatred, or even simply for spite, as they force out the arcane, to which they use to replenish their own magic and to power up darker types of magic. While wielding the bow, they use the powers of the void against the enemy, a darker type of magic. The infusion of the darker types of magic does not corrupt them, but the weapon itself, to the point it morphs into a weapon from the Twisting Nether, before it is banished back to the nether.

Resources: Mana, Void Bolts, and Nether Spark.
Mana is consumed by using spells, that build Void Bolts (max 3). Void bolts are used by using an ability with the bow, and restores mana upon usage. Upon usage of 5 bolts, a Nether Spark is formed. The Nether Spark is used in two ways. (balance around void bolts and nether spark usage)

Mastery: Heart of the Void- Increase damage done by Void abilities by X, and Nether Spark abilities by Y.

Weapon: Arcane Infusion- Regens mana passively and a large amount on use of Arcane Pulse.

    Mana:
Firebolt- A blue flamed bolt of arcane and fire magic. 2.5 sec cast (illidan uses in bt)

Drawing Magic- A dot that the demon hunter draws arcane magic from, dealing X arcane damage lasting X seconds. Instant

Eye of the Void- A dot that the demon hunter lays on his victim, as target of all the power of the void, deal's X shadow damage last X seconds. Instant

Shadow Crash- releases a bolt of shadow magic that hits the target for X amount of damage, lingering for 1 second, before erupting its heart for x amount more shadow damage. (knock down) 3 second cast, 10 second cd. Proc Chance to reset cooldown.

Arcane Pulse- releases an arcane pulse on targets with Drawing magic, restoring the dot to full duration and doing X arcane damage. X second cooldown.

Chaos Storm- The Demon Hunter Channels a storm of Fel Fire, Arcane Lightning, and Winds of Shadow for X shadow fire arcane dmg in a 30 yrd radius.

Magic Seeker- The Demon Hunter draws out the magic of 2 around his main target doing X arcane Damage. Cleave (note, on players it does color codes the players class.)

    Void Bolts:
Dark Barrage- Infusing the bow with energies of the void, and then releasing them in a rapid fire Succession. Does X amount of shadow damage over 4 seconds.

Void's Walk- Infusing the bow with void, it allows casting and channeling while moving for X seconds.

Hole into Void- Fires a bolt from the Void, that when lands, opens a hole in the dimension, causes X shadow damage in 30 yard radius for 8 seconds.

Twin Bolts- Infuses the bow with energies of the void, and targeting the closest target withing 8 yards of the main target, doing X damage to first, and Y damage to the second.

    Nether Spark Usage:
Metamorphosis: Weapon- Depending on the Ranged Weapon, each with different looks but do the same thing, morphs into a demonic Weapon from the Twisting nether, doing chaos damage auto attacks for X amount. Firebolt becomes instant and does X amount of extra damage in a shadow tail, as it erupts from the weapon, and instant procs of Shadow Crash, rather than a cd reset duing duration. Lasts X seconds (single target/2 target)

Metamorphosis: All Weapons- Depending on the range weapon, in hand the one morphs to the correct weapon, two of the Twisting Nether weapons are pulled into existence, floating above each shoulder, and begins firing immense chaos damage to all target infront, while only allowing Chaos storm to be to be used once, amplified, and instant but lasts the full during of its channel. Channels for 10 seconds.

    Cooldowns:
Magical Fusion- greatly Increases void bolt generation. 2min cd

Shadow's Beckon- Increases all damage by X % 3 min cd.

Voidwraith Call- Call a voidwraith from the void, to answer your call for 1 min. 5 min cd

    Rune Alter and Rune Creation
While many Demon Hunters tend to use as little armor as possible, this does not stop them from using armor. Demon hunters use arcane, shadow, fire, and fel runes. To create these runes, they break down metals to point of liquidation, then infusing it with their magic, the magic depending on the Runes they are going for. This becomes the essentials before tattooing themselves with these concoction, in the form of Runes. The Demon Hunter decides on what runes he wishes to use, as there are many, and so few of space on his body.

The left over concoction is then used two make two orbs to fit in his eye sockets. These orbs have there own runes placed on them, giving the Demon Hunter different versions of Spectral sight, based on the runes used. With this, it is all done at the Rune Alter, Located at X (Demon Hunter Starting Zone for Hero Class, like the Death Knights in Eastern Plaguelands)

    Rune Creation
    -Deconstruction and Infusion
~The Demon Hunter can Deconstruct the chest, shoulder, gloves, cloak, bracers, and helmet armor, while infusing it with magic: Arcane- Purple, Shadow- Black, Fire- Orange, Fel- Green. (I believe death knights lay claim to Blue for cold and undeath)

    -Construction and Tattooing
~The Demon Hunter Constructs the Runes for the chest, shoulder, gloves, cloak, bracers, and helmet, before tattooing himself. Choice between different runes (example shown).
~The Runes are based on the 4 magics, but do not need to be with same magic group, as any magic will make the runes work. Runes can be inter changeable between the different types, ie Fel runed chest with Shadow runed Back, but both being Fire runes (orange).

    -Reconstruction
~The Demon Hunter can Reconstruct back any of the armor pieces that were used to deconstruct and created into Runes, taking the material from back from his own body, and reforming it through magic.
~Simple way to bring back pieces for the player so he does not have to actually go back out and farm it.

    -Spectral Orbs
~The Demon Hunter Constructs Orbs for his eyes, before exchanging out the current orbs with the new orbs.
~Changes eyes glow out with one of the magic colors. This can be used for any transmog, as it is its own thing, not a “helm” transmog

Example of Runes (done by Teriz)

Note, this is all Transmog related, and none of the pieces are technically destroyed. The way this is done is so that Role Players can find a fun use to it, and find ways of being different from other Demon Hunters. The pieces themselves have no consequence to gameplay, and is simply a fun tool for transmoggers and role players. I am sure that Blizzard would break away from the “traditional look of demon hunters, as they eventually did with the Death Knight, but this is a way to keep the original look, while making it different then regular Transmog.

This is Based on the Idea done by Teriz for Deconstruction for his own Demon Hunter Concept. I had asked him, and he okay my expanding on his original idea. His original idea is Deconstruction transforms armor into a rune that appears as a tattoo on the Demon Hunter’s body. You can Deconstruct chest, shoulder, glove, cloaks, bracers, and helmet armor. Players can change the color, and appearance of the runes on their bodies. I took it, and played with his idea for a little bit. I hope you liked it.

    Ending

All in all, I actually liked creating the concept, and actually had fun creating the “Ranged” spec, while keeping it completely different but in line of what you could see.

I would like to thank Teriz in allowing me to blend in his Deconstruction. I may have renamed part of it, and added a little to it, but it is thoroughly his creation, and his quite unique idea. You may see it here: Teriz's Demon Hunter Concept , along with his concept for the DH.

    So, questions, comments? Discuss?
If its about, archetypes or such a narrow class, then they are not needed. This is not for an argument against demon hunters based on any of those. It is about lore evoked discussion, not assumptions.

    Good effort.

I still dislike using bows as a DH spec. It's simply terrible. There's numerous ways you can get over the problem of a ranged spec without having to resort to making them a bow or a caster class.

Anyway, like I said, good effort. If you need any ideas, feel free to use my DH class thread in my signature.

Topless rule 63 Illidan gets an immediate thumbs up in support of your concept!

In all seriousness though, there are quite a few concepts flying around. Maybe balancing this with a previous one that included turning armor into runic tattoos... that one had some excellent ideas in it, though I can't remember the name of the thread title.

    I don't see why you're confused.

I enjoy class concepts and theory. So I have no problem supporting a DH class concept. The DH is actually one of my favorite WC3 heroes.

What I do have a problem with are people saying its going to be the next class.

In a vacuum, the DH class works just fine. When you place the concept next to the existing classes in the game, and the structure of modern WoW, that's when the problems emerge.

    Illidan with boobies. *snigger*

I doubt this will happen. The thing with classes in wow, is how they are all made as unique and apart from other classes as possible. Demon hunters are warlocks kind of fit near to one another, so they probably won't go there.

I will just say this: we DO NEED another Hero class... As DKs are OP atm (as far as blood goes), it is logic that second hero class should be DK (Arthas/Illidan connection), and it should be somewhat OP... I would really like to play with female Illidan

Anyway, like I said, good effort. If you need any ideas, feel free to use my DH class thread in my signature.

Actually, that is the main thing I liked about Teriz's Demon Hunter Class. But, since I had not come up with the idea, it would be stupid to Rip a copy of it. If Teriz gives his blessing, I would definitely use this, as mine simply revolves around transmog rather than a disassembling kit, which was a genius idea. The runes simply being a transmog rather than a boost, and you able to choose what you wish to keep.

And Teriz, I know there are multiple ways to get over the use of the ranged weapons, rather than pigeon holing a class, normally thought as melee centric, into using it. Yet, I wanted to use it, not for the "ranged weapons need another class", but to play with the idea that people only see the Demon Hunter form d3 or the Hunter from wow, IF any class gets a ranged weapon. That is the problem I saw, that any class, despite having a good use for bows, would be still pigeon hold into a similar style of the hunter or straight caster ranged, with auto shots being quite a bit of damage. Also, I did not want the Demon Hunter to straight cast, as this would Infringe upon every other range caster. So i wanted a hybrid

The idea was to blend the two together, in a way, I can basically only say, a Demon Hunter could do. Unless you get a mage to use bound bow (skyrim summoned bow). With this, you have the magic proficient Demon Hunter of Illidan and the use of the bow, in a way that would not infringe on any other class, while keeping it quite Demon Hunter related. Also the use of Metamorphosis in the weapon, rather than himself, was something I wanted to see, as a Metamorphosis of himself, would essentually be the Demon Hunter of warcraft 3, shoot bolts of chaos at range, which is already something that Locks were doing (except using Chaos bolt in meta, as its a destro spell), so I wanted to keep it new. and Fresh... But Something that people can say... "I can see that it could fit," rather than a copy of a hunter or d3 dh that everyone knows is not a dh style.

I can understand you not liking the use of the bow, as most Demon Hunter fans, like myself shudder at the fact. For this, though, I actually quite like it, compared to the standard use of the bow. But, I would like to use your Demon Hunter runes =3

    -edit

~Trassk, I do understand what you are saying about Warlock = Demon Hunter. Though, it is a common misconception, at least lorewise. But with lore it can easy be retconned. My idea is not based around a retconned but keeping it the same: Dh's are selfless and Locks are Power Hungry and Greedy. Other than that, the use of fel and magic = lock. I do like to point out Priests use Holy, a major thing of Paladins. You have the ranged in priests, and the melee in paladin. With this, I say both can be together, Dhs being the pally and locks being the priest.

I imagine that the female DH pictured is Maiev turned by Illidan. I make up an opening cinematic where Maiev visits an unmarked grave (Illidan's) where she walks to it while complaining that her thirst for a hunt is causing her languish and emotional pain. She arrives, takes off her helmet, drops her weapon and falls to her knees. A tear forms in her eye and begins to fall to the ground. Before it lands, dark mists swirl around it as it transforms into a winged shadow. Startled, Maiev jumps back to her feet, weapon at the ready.

"I was right about you Maiev, a true huntress with no prey, lost in the world." Illidan's ghostly self steps forward from the shadow.

"You! But, how?" Maiev shifts uneasily.

"There are far more pressing matters which need to be addressed." Illidan's ghostly arm points to the sky.

Maiev looks up. "What are you talking about? There is nothing in the sky."

"A new hunt begins, Maiev. However, you require additional "training"." Illidan shows a slight grin.

"What is it Illidan? I would do anything to enjoy a hunt once again."

Illidan steps closer to Maiev. Trying to show her strength, Maiev does not back down. Illidan grasps her head with both hands, his thumbs begin to cover over her eyes. He presses and Maiev unleashes a scream that echoes through the forest. She collapses to the ground.

"You have the sight now. See now what seeks to destroy Azeroth!'

Maiev slowly tilts her head upward. Where she first saw clear night sky is now filled with balls of fire, hurtling towards them.

Two of the meteors crash close to Maiev. Infernals rise from the craters along with some imps and felhounds.

Maiev rushes towards her weapon and then faces the demons which see can now see with such clarity. She races around, furiously slashing and hacking as one by one the demons fall.

Illidan approaches her as the last demon is put down. "There is more work to be done Maiev. Gather my remains. I'll will lead you to your next destination."

This whole time, Tyrande is watching from the shadows, horrified. She follows Maiev to the Altar of Storms. Maiev places Illidan's cold malformed body on the altar and backs away. A storm approaches and a single bolt of lightning crackles down and hits the altar. Smoke covers the altar and a newly resurrected Illidan emerges. Maiev approaches him and touches his face gently. Tyrande is filled with both hatred and a bit of jealousy as she hastily retreats to make her way to her one love, Malfurion, to tell him the news.

Yes that's right I made it a love quadrangle. There now you have an intro to the next expansion with DH being the new hero class starting off being trained by Maiev.

Also, Illidan was pretty good at throwing his glaives. Just have the ranged spec throw the glaives, he was able to make them return just by waving his arms. So as the player throws one glaive, make the other one return at the same time.

    Ok I'm done writing.

I'm sure there are a lot of things wrong with my story. But it could probably be tweaked to work. I'm also writing on my ipad which is a pain.

Though, your story is a nice story in itself, maiev has become evil off game in Wolfheart. Her character, if Wolfheart had not happened, and something similar actually happened to force her transformation as such a thing, would exile herself if not straight kill herself. She has hated everything to do with Demon Hunters since War of the Ancients, not to mention jailing the most famous of them all, only to watch her friends "die" to him. She hates everything about Illidan, and her becoming one, is I am just afraid to say Impossible.

Even though I am for... some... love quadrangle like this =P

The picture is actually of Illidan battling Arthas, at the end of the Frozen Throne; but the artist depicted both Illidan and Arthas as female, with little clothing. I simply chose this picture, as their are no Female Metas or corrupted forms, with this showing another difference between dhs and locks, with it being Up front and center to see offbalance the view of the reader between locks and dhs. The picture is simply a stimulation to that view. And it is how I would like female dhs to look in tank form

    And ty Sukhoi

I gotta disagree on meta and immolate.

Sure, warlock hellfire isn't the exact same thing but it's pretty darn close, and in demon form they don't even channel it. It's too similar I think to make it a core DH spell, and functionally is the same thing as DH immolate when in demon form.

Metamorphasis: I don't think you make a strong enough case for how DH meta is different from warlock meta. Especially since they get a ranged attack in the DH version. The warlock one is more intricate and interesting as well.

Well done overall, but I think that these abilities are already taken not just in name but also in concept by warlocks.

While mine are based on Lore and actual gameplay point, including the compensation for the Warlock version. The Gameplay point is, none of the Metamorphs actually upgrade any spells, and are all melee related when transforming into a demon. The two are actually based on Illidan in bt when he metamorphs, choosing to to melee over cast. They also look completely different from the Warlock version, model wise on both. Instead it is the player's model, with tank showing the color of the person as he is, just with demonic features and metaing into a dark version of himself and glowing green runes. The Balance takes that same model (the player) and makes him completely black and glow blue, like wc3. While Warlocks take a Form of Illidan with a lot of extras involved, the warlock upgrades its own abilities (corruption becoming doom, and both being on the target at the same time), and is still a very ranged class.

The only thing that is the same, is the fact they have the same name. Meta for tank, being a defense cooldown, and for melee dps is a boost to dps both in and out of form, as it relies on the balance part of it, while the mastery actually makes Balance side of things more dps. Cant even call meta for my ranged spec anything close to the warlock version. In name only are they the same.

Immolation by a Dh is lighting yourself on fire, while the warlocks is an Aura and burns the ground. the Two are fundamentally different, but act the same. I made it so that they can both appear in game together, and not collide. Otherwise it would go back to Hellfire aura from wotlk. I am not trying to have renames go out, rather the opposite and simply rely on the lore to do the work for me. As, the Warlock's Immolation Aura is based on the Infernals, rather than the DH's

    haha ty.

Added a Rune Creation kit for mogging at the end, based on Teriz idea.

I really don't think we're going to get another tank/DPS/DPS class. I really believe the next class is going to be tank/DPS/heal.

Good concept though. DH is a tough class to build a concept for, so kudos to you!
