    Why the Klaxxy Paragons were against the Sha of Fear during HOF?

    Why? They wanted to kill her Empress because she felt under the influence of the Sha of Fear, but after all , the Sha of Fear was one of the head of their beloved Old God, if you have reached exalted with the Klaxxi you know that.

    Why?

    The Sha are not the heads of Y'shaarj; they are the curse left behind after his death. She fell to the curse. She had to be killed.

    Because the Sha aren't servants of the old gods, they are a byproduct of them.

    The Klaxxi viewed them as a perversion.

    They were also turning the mantid into twisted puppets and fucking up their way of life by destroying those sap trees that were central to their culture (used for everything from food to weapons).

    The Mantid regard the Sha of being mere ghosts of the glory that was Y'shaarj. They serve Garrosh because Garrosh hasn't unearthed just a Sha. He unearthed the heart of Y'shaarj and eventually merges with it.

    Is Garrosh an old god now, or why are they following him now?

    Nvm, Dokhidano explained it.

    It was their duty to destroy the Empress if she was corrupted/tyrant/whatever. So, she was corrupted, so she had to go, even if the corrupter was a Sha.

    The Sha aren't really Y'shaarj either, just remnants of sorts. Y'shaarj, for real, was locked away in the Vale, with only the heart remaining. The heart is now in the hands of Garrosh, who apparently can control its (Y'shaarj's remaining) power. So, they join him cuz if Garrosh can control Y'shaarj then I guess he's the master of their master.

    From the dungeon journal:

    The nine surviving Klaxxi'va Paragons are ancient champions of the mantid who fought alongside the Wakener against the madness of Empress Shek'zeer. But the paragons, as do all mantid, hold a far deeper loyalty. When Garrosh unearthed the heart of Y'Shaarj, the paragons followed the whispers of their ancient creator to the iron halls beneath Orgrimmar.
    I wouldn't say he is an old god now, but when he merged with the heart he revived a small portion of Y'Shaarj and it called out to the Klaxxi.

    I guess they defend Garrosh because he is the closest thing they will ever get to having their god back, short of finding a different old god to serve anyway.

    Well at the end of the fight he starts siphoning off the power from the Heart. But yeah, at the time you fight them they are serving Garrosh because he has the Heart.

    Doesn't sound like they're serving Garrosh, but rather serving the Heart of Y'shaarj which whispers to them, which Garrosh happens to have.

    To go a bit deeper into it, they view it as a perversion of the Cycle, which is basically their primary directive. They fight and fight but never win against the races guarding the Wall, and that's part of the arrangement; they are becoming stronger with every passing generation. The weak, who would in the long term turn out to be barely more than mouths in need of feeding, are culled. The defenders in turn learn and adapt, become stronger in their own right. It's a win-win for both sides.

    Shek'zeer broke the Cycle due to the fear of her own mortality. She was tricked by the Sha of Fear into thinking that if she managed to completely overrun Pandaria and dispose of the Klaxxi, she could live forever.

    So, why did they not percieve the Sha as their god? Well, sha is (as was stated before) the byproduct of an Old God's death. While it does have a certain agenda of its own sometimes (the Sha of Fear being the primary example), it doesn't think per se. It takes the thoughts of its primary host and twists them, then takes shape based on that. It's why the Sha of Fear was the only one of the really big sha dudes who properly tried to take over Pandaria - that was Shek'zeer's plan.

    Now to wrap this up. The mantid were servants of Y'shaarj, yes. But with his death, they were left only with the sha, which is far from being a deity. The sha are your own thoughts twisted and reflected back at you. This is why the Klaxxi see it as an abomination. Their whole culture is based around two concepts: servitude to their gods and keeping the Cycle. Shek'zeer abandoned both when she listened to the sha, not the voice of their gods, but merely the dark corners of her own mind.

    Considering they couldn't even be bothered to go in with us and kill Grand Empress Shek'zeer, I don't think the lore about the Klaxxi can be trusted anyway.

    Sha = Old gods breath
    Y'shaarj = Old god itself

    They consider the breath to be mindless. Y'shaarj is dead. Except! Garrosh in 5.4 brings Y'shaarj back to life with the waters of the Vale, that's why the Vale is corrupted after. So with the heart now beating and alive again, their old god is actually back rather than just the breath.

    They couldn't though, even with their considerable mental defenses (put in place so they could monitor the Empress and dispose of her if needed), they'd be overwhelmed and effectively mind-controlled. We're talking the one Empress who managed to somehow turn their insta-kill ritual against the Klaxxi here.

    From what I remember, they weren't so much against the Sha of Fear, as the fact he corrupted the Empress and screwed up the Cycle. The Empress was acting irrational and would ruin the Mantid as a race, so the Paragons were awakened in a time if need. They didn't care about the Sha at all, but they couldn't let the Empress destroy their civilization.

    As to the Siege, I'm pretty sure it's not so much that they're serving Garrosh as they are there to stop US from destroying the Heart of Y'sharrj. I don't think they care one lick about Garrosh, but we basically go there and are all "Hey we're destroying this evil artifact" and they are like "NO! WE CANNOT ALLOW YOU TO KILL OUR MASTER!" and we're like "But he's evil, we have to!" and they're like "THEN WE HAVE NO CHOICE. WAKENER WE WILL DESTROY YOU".

    Is that what happened when the Klaxxi council exploded? I was a bit fuzzy on what they were trying to accomplish, other than it was important, had to do with the Empress, and she ripped them a new one when they tried.

    Aye, it was some sort of failsafe that was basically an insta-kill directed at the Empress. It's why you're sent to activate the pylon things all over the Dread Wastes.
